Your Feelings on Bryce Through 3 Seasons? (POLL)
DaveThePanther2008 replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
The failed 4th down play early in the game was a terrible call by Canales. He took us down and scored the go-ahead TD with 2 plus minutes on the clock. The pass to Coker was pinpoint and an amazing pass. I never said the defense didn't play well but, you can't expect Young to deliver every time. He had 32 seconds starting with a false start so we're already behind the eight ball. The biggest key our defense not stopping them was JC Horn out of the lineup. While I agree we could provide some serious competition at the QB position. I am not going to sit here and make the loss all about Bryce Young. You can hang your hat on it all you want but he wasn't the reason we didn't win the game. -
Rico Dowdle sounds like he’s gone

2 things can be true, he was under utilized too much after chuba returned, too many games where we either abandoned the run or fail to ride the hot hand wether that was chuba or Rico and we need to spend resources on defense instead of tying up more money into the offense I would not put much stock into brooks nor etinne -

Yep, pretty much. Most of Bryce's good games are relatively disappointing games from actually good QBs. I mean, we're all pretty happy that Bryce went 21/40 for 265 a TD and a pick. That's not a good game by good QB standards but it's a pleasantly surprising game for Bryce. -
The worst part about losing last night

Ekwonu has always been an All Pro Guard playing LT. Franchise LTs are expected to have above average pass pro on an island Franchise CBs are expected to play disciplined and not get burned consistently by the top receivers in the league. Franchise QBs are expected to command the end of 1 score games in the 4Q and get into FG range in under 1 minute with all 3 time outs. Franchise WRs are expected to run precision routes and battle for the ball when one on one with the ability to rely on them on the final drive of games. Panthers are 1 for 5 in the past 5 drafts. -

There’s always a ton of recency bias with BY. Homers with the memory of a goldfish only remember his recent good game and say he’s finally turned the corner. This has happens so many times now I can’t keep count. Then when young comes out and plays like ass for multiple games in a row it’s everybody else’s fault. You can’t win in the NFL consistently with such an inconsistent QB. -
Take back what I said earlier, seems like if all goes well, he could be back mid season. Holding him out longer won’t really be taking necessary risk as long as core strength is rebuilt. It sounds counterintuitive but true. Tendons remodel under controlled stress. Confidence matters as much as strength. Avoiding football for the entire season next year can create hesitation, altered mechanics, secondary injuries later, etc. That’s why teams don’t bubble-wrap players unnecessarily. We will VERY likely sign a vet FA to go along with Yosh or Brady on a 1 year deal as insurance to get us through the first half of the season.

It's so funny...the 'only if' crowd. They lament the missed opportunities/mistakes we make, but ignore the fact the other team had missed opportunities as well. As you pointed out, the Rams didn't play a prefect game and had their share of bugled opportunities too. It works both ways. -
He should be begging us to stay after that piss poor performance to close out the year

If you have Mac Jones, Bryce Young, and Tua Tagovailoa in the QB room, who starts? This will give me a better gauge on the Alabama skew. I am going with Mac Jones, but looking for his replacement. None of them get to sit around without any QB competition. I don't see any of them winning in the playoffs consistently. -

I get analytics, I get that a td would have buried us, but holy fug like Parcells used to say "take the damn points". The Rams trying to convert a 4rth and 3 instead of kicking a fg to go up 20 to 7 was a insanely stupid call IMO. That had us on the ropes and then we drive and make it 17-14 going into half. ALWAYS TAKE THE DAMN POINTS especially in a playoff game. I was wanting to win just to rub that back in their stupid faces. Trying to show us up was stupid and costly -
I think Coker will be cheaper than we think. It won’t be for nothing but it won’t be super expensive. Still need a 3rd WR to add into the mix with Coker and McMillan. Would love it to be vet like Atwell or Shaheed

Mike Jack and Coker. What a game them 2 had yesterday.

If you want to get into specifics the defense is lucky Puka dropped a wide open TD and Stafford missed a wide open Adams for a 40+ yard gain. They also dropped a int that led to a rams score. -

They're big boys that fully understand the dynamics of the game. Just like us, they'll be alright. The worst thing about losing last night was not only losing the game, was losing Ickey. Many repercussions, some that may be long lasting, will happen as a result of his injury.

defense i feel actually played well after they settled in. offense put them in alot of very tough spots. int , fumbl, 3 fourth down failures all very short fields at least a 14 point swing. -
Mike Jackson had an absolutely phenomenal performance at CB. I don't know if he allowed a single yard.

CPantherKing replied to TylerDurden's topic in Carolina Panthers
Evero has been developed around Jim Harbaugh, Mike McCarthy and Sean McVay. His default is to go conservative when they tie the game or have the lead. Conservative when they are only 1 score behind with 4 or more drives remaining in the game. Defensive minds like Evero rely on playing conservative, stopping the run, playing to keep receivers from getting behind the secondary, and baiting/forcing the QB into mistakes. He's not coming with the blitz unless the team is trailing and needs to disrupt the opposing offense. His default is to allow the offense to win the game with the final possession in these situations. He developed as a coach with Jeff Garcia, Colin Kaepernick, Alex Smith, Aaron Rodgers, Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford as the field generals to lead a team down the field for a win or at least a FG in 1 minute or less. You should never expect him to be like a Fangio, Martindale or Spagnuolo. If you want to keep, Evero and be successful, you need a QB who can command the end of a game with calm and precision while knowing before critical situation when to take a risky shot. -

I don't think Brooks is gonna pan out...unless hes Thomas Davis....I was high on Etienne but he has hand issues... so letting Rico go we still need another in the stable. -
The worst part about losing last night
45catfan replied to ProcessBlue2's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm not miserable, but realistic. This team made the playoffs on a tiebreaker because our entire division blows. If the NFL got rid of the archaic division winner nonsense and strictly went with the 7 best records, we wouldn't have even been in the playoffs, let alone hosting a game. It would be different if we went on a late season tear and were piping hot heading into the playoffs. We lost 3 of 4. Sorry, if I lost my rose color glasses that blocks out reality. Speaking of horrible road teams, even if we did advance somehow, the first road game versus an elite team, we would have gotten completely smoked. Take the feel good loss in the WC round. It would have only gotten uglier. -

I know on the first or second play he was chased from the pocket in less than a second. So it broke down pretty quickly. -
Trevor is so lucky he wasn’t picked twice on that drive
-
Fuuug me. Lets see if he learned and can overcome the late game soft zone when game is on line to actually help us win. We gonna give him some more players... I like stability and consistency if it proves out to be valuable.
