Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panthers History
ForJimmy replied to dep's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yuck. I still kind of like Herbert but these playoff performances are rough.... -
I feel like this was the case with River and McDermott defenses as well, we just had the jimmies and the joes to overcome these deficiencies with all pro players at edge and linebacker positions. Even then, was extremely frustrated in 2015 when we'd let team come back from 20+ pt deficits playing prevent only to barely win at the end.

Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panthers History

We need to move on soon and just use Bryce as a bridge to find our next guy. I'd like to see how this offense works with Canales hand picking his own guy. Bryce holds this offense back a lot considering you draft the first pick to carry your team and be your best player. We invested heavily for Bryce and need everything to go right just to have him look like a solid game manager sometimes. When he plays well he can look decent or mid, but when he plays bad he looks like a bottom 5 qb in league (backups included). It's not worth it, especially if we need to pay him soon, which means we have to skimp all over the roster. If the defenses don't hand it to us on a silver platter Atlanta style then we struggle big time. Defenses don't respect the offense at all. With Cam we could have the worst offensive talent and I'd still think we had a shot in any game we played. If Bryce is facing a 3rd and 10 I pretty much wave the white flag and don't think we can make that first down. -
I felt like the QB play in the NFL declined as far as the bottom third guys go. Seems like the floor to be number 30 was just lower. No numbers to back it up just my impression. Came to post this, hit the 4 minute mark and Simms says something I found interesting that sounds like he has a source, I hadn’t heard anyone say this before.. but it is just a line or two in the conversation of how they reevaluated the team following the season and playoff loss. I didn’t get to see the game so I am hitting the Monday morning analysis and recaps from lots of places and came across it.

OT is a big need again unfortunately. But we should weigh all options. Our first round pick should go to the defense unless someone falls.

Like I said before…a return mid season is possible if his quad strength is at a level they are happy with. 8-12 months is the expected return time. Let’s all pray that’s the case and that his age is a factor in the healing process being expedited. Someone in a skill position would be much more impacted so I hope the young man can make a full recovery.

It amuses me seeing folks post stills of Bryce's offensive line as if the Panthers didn't go out and invest steep resources in the unit to the detriment of the rest of the roster after his rookie season following endless whailing about protecting him. These are also the same folks who will deflect to throwing anyone under the bus when Bryce fails. Highest salary cap % investment to the OL. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/position/offensive-line/_/year/2025/sort/cap_total FYI the Rams are 11th and the Chargers are 16th in this list.

Bill Barnwell with encouraging words on the Panthers

I'll be wrapping up my season on Madden. Once I finalize my FA for next season, I'll email the results to Dan again. Next year may be our year. -
Evero's scheme is we'll let you move the ball, 3rd down conversion is OK as long as they dont score, hope the other team messes up. They dont force the action.

Your Feelings on Bryce Through 3 Seasons? (POLL)
SmokinwithWilly replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
The final drive was his moment. Dave was calling the plays, but Bryce, at the line, with 3 time outs, needing 30 yards with 40 seconds left, has to read the field, see what the defense is giving him, and adjust the play call if necessary. The middle of the field was wide open. We didn't have to get it all in 1 chunk. Your QB has to be able to do that. If he can't, he shouldn't be behind center. That's what I hang on Bryce. His inability to recognize the defense in the moment, adjust the play at the line to take what's given, and use our 3 timeouts to get us in field goal range instead of going 0-4, trying to get it all in one big play when that's what the defense was guarding against. -
Lol suck an egg dude. You are the ultimate troll. Scheme is a big reason. He wants them to set the edge and then get sacks on second efforts because of coverage. You can tell by the pass rush moves we see it's either a bull rush to the chest if the OT or a slight inside move. I can't remember seeing one of our edges trying to blow around the outside with a dip or rip all year

yeah i thought about that and wanted to look at the list figure it would make him look worse to actially look at thr list -
Well he's not happy, and he doesn't want to piss off the boss. I hate Evero's scheme with a passion. To me, it's just too spread out, far and in between.

Evero plays a lot of zone coverage more than any DC. I think his philosophy is to play it safe and let them make mistakes, an opportunistic defense. Being so zone heavy, I actually think he greatly relies on an effective pass rush with only 4 guys and he doesn't like to blitz to create chaos. However, our pass rush is so poor and so that's why we get gashed for big chunk pass plays. I think Dan will work hard to upgrade our pass rush, Dan has attacked a team weakness every single off season.

A lot of qbs got benched this year (Russell Wilson, everyone in Oakland) or got hurt. Probably should only compare him to the qbs that played over 13 starts or whatever. -
Carrier and Philp are out. Freddie is in net. Detroit 7-2-1 in the last 10 and leading the Atlantic.

I have a hard time believing this having watched the game. Like maybe if we’re including him rolling out behind the LOS PFF doing what they were originally made for and pumping up the pats by shitting on other parts of the same team for weird reasons. -

Tyrek Funderburk really sounds like a Key & Peele skit. -
We've definitely made some less than ideal decisions, but we haven't even come close to the idiocy of planning to trot out the duo of Bell and Chandler as our starting OTs. That's quite possibly the worst mismanagement of OL I can recall in the NFL. I mean, if you get hit with a rash of injuries (which is why a lot of these "poor decision" guys have been playing) and you have to scratch together the best you can on the fly that's one thing. But to literally plan on Bell and Chandler as your penciled in starting OTs is just insane.

Does his scheme prevent players from getting to the QB, or pinning their ears back? His defense has consistently been in lowest ranks for sacks even when we had Brian Burns, and despite overall defensive improvement I think we ended 29th in sacks this year. Princely seems to allude that they’re not empowered to pin their ears to get to the QB
