Reich description of his future QB!
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Ivory Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Size is a concern, however big, tall, strong QBs also get hurt. I think he has proven that he can be a great QB, what's going to separate him from the others is his football acumen during personal interviews. I saw an interview where Daniel Jeremiah was talking with Pat McAfee and there are reports that Young has the right attitude, football intelligence, and maturation to be a franchise QB. Young was watching tape on Sundays after their games on Sat and going to coaches and giving them a game plan. His work ethic and drive reminds me of Luke being a film rat and know all of the offenses plays. Luke ended his career because of concussions even being in top physical shape. I would rather have 5-7 years of hall of fame production compared to 10 years of average play. -
Get the WR's now, use 2nd pick for defense
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Does Dhop have a no trade clause? If he does then sure he can refuse to come here, but if he don't then he is going to the highest bidder. DJ Moore didn't have a say in going to Chicago -

If Panthers are interested in Theilen at age 32, they surely would be interested in Hopkins at 31. I don't expect Hopkins or Theilen to save the day but their exp and production is invaluable to a rookie QB at this time. -

I agree that it was dumb trade, that's why I don't think he is even worth a 2nd at this point. If he wants to come home and finish his career in Carolina that would be incentive to come here. Also I really believe that with this staff and the right rookie QB, we can be a play off team this year in a weak division. Arizona is not going to the playoff next year with Murray out for a prolonged time. -

Is Hopkins at this point in his career worth a 2nd round pick? He was traded for a 2nd round pick and more in his prime, he can probably be had for a 3rd. -
Uh, they drafted him to give him a chance at his NFL dream, paid him millions of dollars to play football, coached him, put him on the field even started him at some point. So yeah, I think he's had his fair chance to develop into at least a decent TE at this point it's on him.

Ian Thomas is a waste of a roster spot, sure he took a pay cut but what has he done for this team on game day? Are we going to carry 3 TE on game day? Just let him go.

At this point, essentially Young and Stroud is 1a and 1b. It all depends on the flavor you like. To me, Stroud is your more traditional drop back QB, take what the defense gives you, and be accurate. Young is more of a playmaker when things don't go well, I feel like he has more potential to make big plays. Stroud can sustain a 12 play drive, where as Young can give you a 50+yd chunk play any time. I prefer Young but wouldn't be mad at Stroud.

Wow! This is what I expected! We need our franchise qb now! Hate to see Dj Go but he is replaceable.

Panthers are now the betting favorite for the #1 pick
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Martin's topic in Carolina Panthers
How do you know that he WON'T be a franchise QB? Life is all about risks, everyone knows that tomorrow is not guaranteed, but if you also don't take risks you'll never achieve greatness. Do you know what your future holds? You don't, but you do the best that you can and make a calculated decision! -

A franchise qb is never too expensive. A franchise qb will bring in millions of revenue, notoriety, keep you in contention for super bowls. Invest in the now! -
People who say "wait for next year" are the same people who hold off on prostate exams and colonoscopies until next year. I say take it up the ass and get it over and done with, it might even save your life!

Saints Sign Derek Carr to 4 year deal.
CarolinaRideorDie replied to TheWiz's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't think Carr is a terrible QB, I just don't think he has enough to get a team to the supberowl. Analytics and stats are great to go off of, but there are the "intangibles" that's not accounted for. Kirk, Rodgers, and Dak have some great stats, etc, but why do they perennial drop out of the playoffs? -
What AR did physically in the workouts don't matter as much. I think the Panthers really wanted to sit down with him in the private interviews to gauge his leadership, football knowledge, and competitiveness. I think Young and Stroud have him beat in that department and that's why they are ranking him lower. He did boost his stock at the combine and I think the Panthers would feel better about drafting him if they miss out of Young or Stroud. It's still a good interaction overall

Now we will see if it was really the Raiders sucking or Carr sucking? -
Ryan Poles trying to drive up the cost of the #1 pick
CarolinaRideorDie replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's why I trust Fitt and Reich to make the right move at the QB position even if it costs a fortune to move up. Their careers are on the line and tied to this QB pick, I'm sure they know that. Freaking Rhule thought he really had 7 years to build here. -
You don't "luck" into a franchise QB, you "suck" into a franchise QB. lol

I think the next biggest need outside of QB is another premier pass rusher, especially if we are picking in the top 10. WR, Safety, TE are not top 10 value. With our new transition to 3-4, we need big bodies on the line and another pass rusher opposite Burns.

Panthers have #1 Training Staff according to NFLPA report card
CarolinaRideorDie replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
Food and nutrition gets a D? The players don't like Bojangles? smh -
I do believe the Panthers will leave the draft with at least a LB or D-linemen, so it will be interesting to watch a potential future Panther workout!

S2 Cognitive test points to NFL Success
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it's ridiculous to keep these scores private. I hate standardized testing but what's the difference when colleges ask for SAT/ACT scores? Or med school/law school not accepting you because of low scores? It's all to judge your "intelligence." Fair or not fair, it's how the process works. -
S2 Cognitive test points to NFL Success
CarolinaRideorDie replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think there is truth and evidence behind this S2 test. QB requires a person to make smart, quick, and accurate decisions with limited info. I do believe this is what separates an avg QB from an elite QB. Zach Wilson, Darnold, Mayfield all have the physical talent to play QB but do they have mental fortitude to execute it? Watch Bryce Young's tape and he has it, that's why I'm not so worried about his size, he'll know how to get he ball out quick. -
I think it depends more on the staff and how they use the TEs. Ian Thomas has been through 2 regimes and hasn't shown anything, he sucks. Tremble I think has potential and would like to see how he is used with this staff, scouting reports compared him to a poor mans Kittle. Good quality TE's don't make it to free agency, look at the history of TE's who signed with new teams, they hardly live up to their contract. Of 32 NFL teams, only Kelce and Kittle are the top tier players, it's hard to find a legit TE.

My question is who is mostly responsible for our draft picks last year, Rhule or Fitt? Rhule was supposed to have control of the roster and draft picks. It'll be interesting to see Fitt's draft this year. Maybe it's too early to judge a draft class just one year but look at the Chiefs, they had a lot of rookies who contributed to their superbowl run. Draft smart and find players who can contribute immediately is the fastest way for a turnaround. We couldn't even find players who can contribute on a relatively talent depleted team.
