Even in his rookie season I think he had some rest days for soreness. I think it was just fate, his throwing motion plus some of the hard falls/hits he took on it. Genetics, who knows. He never truly improved his lower body mechanics because he didn’t have to. I wonder if his shoulder have held up longer if he threw more the way pundits said he should.

Why we won't get the #1 pick
Donald LaFell replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah none of these QBs feel like a sure thing so I’d rather try out Richardson. -
Yeah I’m surprised how salty people are about it. I felt like when we signed him we always knew it was going to be a 1yr rental.

I guess the team just doesn’t really feel like it’s at the beginning of a rookie QB window for me. There are all kinds of ways to succeed and if Reich is a good coach it’ll work out regardless. I guess I’m just having a hard time thinking about when trading up into the top 5 of the draft has worked out at all. If the cost is 1-2 future first rounders I think that really hamstrings a team.

It’s a huge gamble to trade up this year but whatever happens happens.

Steve Smith on the Wilks vs Reich debate
Donald LaFell replied to methodtoll's topic in Carolina Panthers
All of it is common sense, trying to play field position ball with Tom Brady without your best corner is what sealed it. Not even sure if Rivera/Fox would have been that conservative. -
Panthers Social Team is having too much fun

The drum is like a great bite of lean meat and then working my way around that knobbily stuff. the flats just seem to all be edible whether it’s skin or cartilage or meat. When it’s cooked just right you can get all the bones out and it’s satisfying like perfectly shelling a crab leg. -
Draft Simulator (Lets see What You Got)
Donald LaFell replied to Daddy_Uncle's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah 2 years ago I was able to draft Horn and Surtain back to back with all the trades I was doing. Needs stricter logic. -
Honestly doesn’t seem like a good time to be aggressive in FA/draft with a new coach but who knows.

Duce Staley Joining Reich's Staff

He’s local too, im sure that helps -
I’d rather see if they can get Richardson at 9 or later in the draft. At least with Richardson the ceiling is higher.

Cautiously optimistic but I feel like the roster and cap isn’t quite in a good spot to be competitive right away. Without a QB it’s hard to calculate that SB window.
-
Russell Wilson too. A big group of things that painfully beat us in all kinds of fashions.

I don’t really mind the rigged accusations because the ref quality is unacceptable at this point is just feels naive to not be skeptical. I think the refs and the NFL as a whole has a directive to put their finger on the scales when they can.

100%, you can’t put a cherry on top of a sundae that doesn’t exist. it pretty much just all comes down to getting a QB and protecting that QB. If you don’t have that no one is going to carry the team for you.

I wouldn’t be mad if Fitterer was fired
Donald LaFell replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
Saying “Darnold to Dan Arnold” was priceless, how could we break that up? -

If Fitterer pays Burns like an elite 3 down DE then I think that shows very poor judgement. If he pays Burns that money but then doesn’t heavily invest in the D-line to free him up then he should be fired. -

I don’t mean this as a knock on CMC but who knows how long he’ll be effective for. -
I’d much rather draft for potential since it’s a gamble regardless. I’d be fine with AR at 9. It’d be a coup if they traded down too.

My Bad Idea - Dorsey + Richardson + Wilks
Donald LaFell replied to CPcavedweller's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wilks as AHC for Ron would be hilarious since they are bad at the same stuff. I think Wilks is better at clock mgmt possibly. -
If Wilks had made adjustments in the Bucs game
Donald LaFell replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think one of the rationales is that the offensive HC isn’t going to leave for a promotion. The team will be in a more stable position because the league favors offense so heavily. I’m sure it can work the other way around but why fight the prevailing winds? The NFL likes points and wants to discourage punishing defenses. -
Vic Fangio, Brian Daboll and a new approach to staff building
Donald LaFell replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yeah it’s shockingly stupid but plenty of these grown men are so no surprise.
