Mayock's 2014 NFL Draft Eve Mock

Recommended Posts

It's drivel really. Manziel to Cowboys is a gimmick to get people talking. And here I am....

I would not trade back for a 4th and 6th rounder, the % chance that those picks pan out are low. And if they don't pan out you just gave up those draft slots for nothing. You also surrendered the right to sign your guy to a 5th year. The 5th year is dirt cheap players 11-32

I hate when "analysts" come up with some random ideas and try to project trades in their mocks. Just keep every team in their normal spot otherwise you just look like an idiot because this mock draft doesnt make any sense cant believe he gets paid to come up with such retarded poo

I get what you mean, i was kinda disappointing when I saw Mayock's draft for us especially since he makes one of the better mock drafts in my opinion. Im surprised he did not have the Panthers taking Verrett at least if he didnt know which direction to go and it pissed me off that the Saints took KB in this draft and they are a pick ahead. But in all honesty if a scenario like this took place i would be pretty happy since most of the quality would be in the second round any ways and would rather have that than reach for a player

Mayock makes a good point.

What we can get in the mid thirties is the same as what we can get at 28, so why NOT take the 4th and the 6th?

Use them to trade back into the early third.

You guys aren't thinking clearly

If i am understanding some of the complaints right its not the scenario that people are disgruntled with but the fact that some people dont like that a mock draft has a random scenario that may most likely not happen instead of a solid pick that would most likely happen. Its just not what some people look for in a mock draft and personally im a bit disappointed by it but would be very happy if a situation occurred where the panthers trade down for more picks in the second or third round.

I'm cool with trading down but just getting their 2nd, 4th, and 6th isn't enough. Would rather a 2nd and a 3rd

But according to the trade value chart, that is exactly what the pick would be worth.  Now, if you were dead set on getting their 3rd along with their 2nd, then you could switch 3rds with them, the value between our 3rd and their 3rd is almost the exact same value as the difference between their 2nd and our 1st...but this is a scenario I really don't see happening.

Bottom line, if we do trade back that few spots, a 4th and 6th is probably about all we can expect.  But if we think someone we would take at 28 would be there in the trade back, then it is still a net gain.  It would be like getting two free extra picks along with a guy we would have taken anyway.
