What would you do if you were the Texans?

No one actually believes that Clowney could've gone from HS senior to NFL starter. The kid would've gotten CRUSHED. There is no one at the HS level who is ready to physically compete in the trenches at the NFL level.

His floor is Peppers? You cannot possibly be serious.

Just for shits and giggles I googled "clowney peppers" just now and first thing that came up:

An AFC executive believes Jadeveon Clowney's floor is a Julius Peppers or Mario Williams-esque career.

That's floor. The quote comes on the same day where 14-of-21 scouts polled by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel called Clowney the best player in this year's draft class. Despite months (and months) of overanalyzing, Clowney remains the odds-on favorite to go No. 1 overall. May. 6 - 9:20 pm et

Damn I should be an NFL exec.

it would be foolish to do anything but take clowney.

unless someone is offering a ridiculous combination of picks (like 3 1st rounders and more).

grab a qb in the second. they could luck out with bridgewater.

they would luck out if the got Bridgewater in the second. i think it would be foolish to draft Clowney and not let him play his natural position.

1, Trade down

2. Take Clowney

3. Take...gulp, Manziel. My reasoning? I think he's going to be decent, but not a star. At the same time, Houston has superb talent compared to most teams drafting #1 and can make him a Russel Wilson type guy. Not to mention, he's going to sale tickets/jersey, and this is a business.

I want Manziel in Houston. I think the Texas should trade out for 2 firsts and a 2nd at the least then take manziel at whatever position they move back to

in the end he's being drafted for his insane pass rush ability. + he has shown he is more than athletic enough to drop back occasionally. the guy is a freak, he'll be able to do anything asked of him.

so the texans have said they woould move him to olb in the 3-4 and if so Mack is the better 3-4 OLB. why not just draft the better player if the position has already been established?

Trade the pick to the Failcons....

Sit back and enjoy my high 1st round pick next year since the Failcons will remain in the South's basement for years to come.

would love to see thm fall further behind by giving up more to get a little more.

well it's purely speculative to say who the better player is. mack is a beast, no doubt, and has experience playing the position... but guys like clowney don't come around often. who knows, clowney could end up being the best 3-4 OLB ever.

i'm not saying he will be, but i would still draft clowney if i were the texans.

I don't think there is wrong answer just don't see passing up Clowney for a player ranked right there with him as a major mistake or even a minor one.  If i were the Texans I would hope for a trade and more picks. These guys are good but that still leaves a major issue on the other side of the ball.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
