2 years is still a fair amount of time, and Trent being a massive bust has certainly helped in the change.

No.  You're not going in the 1st round these days as a RB unless they think you're another Adrian Peterson.  I think the top RB going in the 2nd round is going to become more the norm instead of the exception.

Williams would be a 3rd rounder and steward would be a boardline 1 or early second. he had some crazy measurable coming out of college

what makes you think it will come back around? the league is changing mostly because of health concerns. there's no chance they go back to the style of play that made RBs a hot commodity.

Everything is cyclic. Right now it's a passing league where players are getting faster to counter added WR's and get to the QB. The league will de-emphasize run stopping ability at which point RB's, particularly power backs, will hold an advantage and will return as an effect offensive weapon- this elevating their stock...again.

Very few are worth a first today; AP, McCoy, Charles, Forte and that's with hindsight but you might could include Foster, Rice and maybe Spiller

I suspect DWill would have gone mid 2nd while Stew would have been a 3rd rounder.  Just a guess though.  Nobody wants RB anymore now that Hurney is out of the league.

Not sure it'll happen.  If anything, it seems like college football is driving the innovation in football right now.  It seems like the NFL is following the trends set in college.  More mobile QBs, more spread attacks, more uptempo style offenses.  If that trend is accurate, I think we'll see more RBs who are smaller and who have great vision and who are shifty.  Those are the types of backs that will likely thrive in those environments if the college game is any indication.

 

With that said, the guy we just took in the 6th round is the exact opposite of that.
