St. Louis Rams Draft Their Janitor

Former Utah State safety Mo Alexander has had quite a journey to the NFL, and it seems fitting that the St. Louis Rams were the team that decided to bring him in with their fourth-round pick (No. 110 overall).

Alexander made a big impact at Utah State this past season (nine tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and an interception), but it looked incredibly unlikely that he'd make it to the NFL back in 2012 after he was dismissed from the team and ordered to serve a year in jail after punching a teammate in the face at a party (h/t Deseret News).

After being kicked off the football team, Alexander spent part of his time as a janitor at the Edward Jones Dome—the Rams' stadium—before being reinstated by the Utah State football team in 2013.

It's clear that Alexander has made the most of his second chance, as he'll now be playing at the Edward Jones Dome instead of helping clean it up.

the Rams did good methinks. gut tells me they will make the NFC West very interesting next season. i think the NFC West and NFC South are shaping up to be the best divisions in the league. AFC West will be a force next year too.

You haven't seen the powerhouse of the nfc east.

I wonder if he gets to keep his janitor job to have something to fall back on?

    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
