Starting OTs in the NFL and where they were drafted

If people wana stay stubborn and ignore the fact that the OTs where we picked in the 2nd were crap, and would have been a huge reach, then let them.

I just wana be around for their reaction when one of our OT actually pans out. Perhaps gettleman knows what he has and is in fact, comfortable? No can't be. He's a retard

Kind of sheds light on the current thinking about OT's now doesn't it? Maybe our new GM knows more than our resident experts?

I'm not sold on that concept completely and I really wanted a tackle more than anything else. However, I am not going to harp on it. The GM and coach stated their reasoning, I can't change any of that  by harping on it so I'll just see how it plays out.

I think that's what most rational fans on here are saying. No need to harp on it cause it serves no purpose. It wasn't in the cards to find an upgrade in the draft this year and may not happen this season in FA. But the team will make due with what they have until an opportunity presents itself to upgrade the tackle position at some point. So enjoy the show and don't sweat the small stuff.

Good article. With us, I think we just need Chandler and Bell to be serviceable, while our interior line needs to dominate to open up some running lanes. I'd prefer to lean on the ground attack rather than the pass to start the season, especially with our role playing wideouts.

The one thing I will say about this, if you draft an OT in the 1st or 2nd round you are married to them for several years. You have to let them take their lumps as a rookie and see if they improve as sophomore then see what you have in year 3. Meanwhile you are passing on others guy because you committed to this guy.

2004 was one of the great QB drafts of all time. The Houston Texans had the 10th pick and they passed on Ben Roethlistberger....why? David Carr, they were invested and wanted to give him every chance. They chose Dunta Robinson instead who has had a nice career.

If you don't believe in a guy, it's foolish to draft them. It's like when a woman gets married because all her friends are. Then 2 years later she's divorced.

Ask any team that faced the Panthers last year and if OT (especially LT) wasn't important.

If your division has a bunch so-so Defensive ends....you could have so-so tackles. Not a good plan for anyone in the NFC South or NFC West.

Other than us, the NFCS is nothing but so-so (at best) DEs.  When the best pass rusher on any rival team is Adrian Clayborn, you can get by with so-so OTs.
