You love the Kraken, I love the Kraken. We pay to watch him perform on Sundays. But Greg Hardy has needed to learn to separate his professional life from his personal life for quite some time now. A bit of maturity is needed, and quickly.

That is usually how it goes for 25 year old men. Throw in plenty of money and fame and often times you have a bigger problem.

Over the years with the Panthers there have been signs of trouble. Namely tweeting pictures of dozens of shot glasses, his Bentley speedometer going over 100mph, a driving record with plenty of speeding tickets and a motorcycle accident to name a few. A problem that began in college causing him to plummet in the NFL draft has bled into the NFL

Hardy can add a domestic abuse charge to his record, and that is no laughing matter.

A lack of maturity has now cost him millions, and could cost him much more. It threatens the long term contract he has worked towards. Personal problems will now fall into the risk category when weighing Hardy's benefit. Even if found completely innocent, the domestic violence charge will follow him around the NFL.

We don't yet know what happened yesterday morning. He very well may not be entirely at fault. However, he is 100% responsible for the position he has put himself in. The people he chooses to surround himself with also fall into the "needs maturation" category.

These are all red flags leading up to something more substantial. All signs point to more serious problems on the horizon. The NFL is littered with these stories, and Hardy could just be the next sad character and punch line.

Unless Hardy can get it turned around, and I mean right now.

A full night in a jail cell could be the wake up call Greg has needed for quite some time. Forced to stay the night as a cooling off period, he hopefully used the time wisely and went through accelerated maturation.

We all love the Kraken on the field. Lets hope Greg Hardy can learn to leave him there.

Hopefully we just got a huge discount because of this if we re-sign him. 

 

His agent's bargaining power absolutely just took a big hit.

 

I would have like to have seen Drew Rosenhaus's face when he found out.

Excellent post.  Truth is, if Greg is able to avoid jail time AND keep his job after this, then he needs to count his lucky stars, thank every known diety, and NEVER think about getting angry off the football field again.

 

Even if he's with us, Hardy's not going to get CJ money now.  There will be major behaviorial clauses in his contract, and he can kiss a lot of the guranteed money goodbye.

 

I hope that, no matter the result, Greg has learned to appreciate life a bit more after spending a night in jail.  If he never plays another down of NFL football, I hope that he appreciates the opportunity he had.  He was on the verg of being set for several lifetimes.  He was on the cusp of NFL greatness. 

 

One night in jail, will it be his last?  Will he grow up, become a man, and stop putting himself negative situations?  I hope so for his children's sake.  I hope so for his sake.  And I hope he realizes that he never has a right to touch someone else in anger, off the football field (but remaining in control on the field).

it's.  watershed moment. time to own up to any issues you have and realize that the path your on may not be worth the drama that it brings and you need a new  life, new friends, a new perspective on what it means to live and a new commitment to your future.

      Surprised CB is that low.  19th is odd spot. For many recent drafts, teams only felt there were around 14 first round players.  So to many 19 is just an early second and doesn't hold the value of a first.  If you go off- the smart path of LT, QB, edge, WR, CB, etc. Whatever your OG, Safety, ILB, etc needs to be a difference maker, that's the key point. I've said the 8th best edge is better than the 1st safety. Same for QB and even WRs. You should 100% factor in position value.  MHS you've been wanting a FS, let me tell you its super difficult to be a difference making FS. You're just sooo farrrr away from the action and the end result most times. If you're in the play, defense made mistakes in order. Now to talk out of both sides, maaaaaann that white boy from Oregon....I thought he crushed the combine and honestly that alone made me rethink "is he worth 19 now?!?!" he's now in the discussion for me, but still below others.    Plus I feel TE is vastly underrated in value terms. But looking at the last 20 years of TEs in the first, its down right bad. You're better like X10 better drafting one in 4th or 5th.
