Spit balling a trade here

Doug Free also plays OT.

I'd rather not just start trading away quality players for any bum ass OT we can find just to say that we did and appease a few fans.

There will be plenty of OL out there after cuts.

Doug Free is not that great.

Not arguing the wisdom (or lack thereof) of such a trade, but it seems PFF's OT rankings graded him well last year.  I don't subscribe to PFF and their rankings are behind their subscriber wall, but these articles refer to them...

No. 16 pick Zack Martin lined up at right guard during rookie minicamp and is ticketed for that job in Week 1. Free enjoyed a remarkable bounce-back year in 2013 after a dismal 2012 season, grading out 18th among 76 qualifiers in Pro Football Focus' tackle ratings. Free, 30, is now entering his contract year.

Archer also mentioned that the Cowboys could approach RT Doug Free regarding an extension if they miss out on one of the top tackles this week.

Archer specifically suggests that Notre Dame OL Zack Martin could be on their radar in round one, but there has been enough buzz surrounding Martin in recent weeks that it appears unlikely he would be available to them.

Free, 30, agreed to a $3.5 million pay cut to remain with the Cowboys last year. He will make $3.5 million for the 2014 season and carries a $6.52 million cap figure.

The fact that the Cowboys asked him to reduce his pay could be a disadvantage as he could try to recoup some of his lost salary in the process.

Last year, Pro Football Focus rated Free as the No. 4 right tackle in the league.

Of course, contra to that argument, if memory serves PFF is the one that graded Bell reasonably well too.

Way to soon to be crowning klein. Let see what he does as a starter before we say hes better thay tyron smith and dez bryant a pro bowlers and such. Geesh.

Not sure who crowned Klein but I think to put it in another way, several view him as having more upside than said OT. Not exactly sure how to quantify this but he is only a 2nd year player who was a 5th round selection that got a start last year. On top of that he did not look too bad doing it.

Sorry but no.  As much as I love TD and without any regard to his injuries, he won't be able to play at a high level much longer due to his age.  Klein is a great prospect who's already proven big potential who we can groom into a long term replacement.
