Nice thought from Trai Turner

I just find it hard to believe that our o-line depth is so bad we are counting on a converted d-lineman to anchor the left side. That speaks volumes to me.

that converted d-line has the potential to be a stud at LT.

Eeeehhh, I wouldn't necessarily call that lineup 'scary'.  'Unknown' or 'unproven' would be better words.

If Turner looks good and Amini is back to form, the interior line actually looks pretty solid.

The tackles?  We'll see, but don't discount the improvement that young players tend to show on an annual basis.

Depends on what you mean by scary

I know this is a Turner thread but I think we can be successful if Cam gets a little bit more comfortable throwing on the run. I think the pocket on the inside will hold with Turner, Kalil and Amini. Cam will have to improvise against teams with strong defensive end/ rushing linebacker play.

I know that isn't traditional quarterback play but Cam is capable of punishing teams with so much more. He may have to run more this season until the line builds some chemistry. I just hope they don't hurt our quarterback with this patchwork line, but I think Cam will adapt and overcome as most champions do.

Chandler could then into a Pro Bowl LT. You never know. Joeckel played QB until college. Other guys have played DT, DE, OG, TE, etc and switched to LT midway thru college and been very successful. Maybe Chandler is built to play LT. He's a massive man with incredible athleticism. The coaches obviously see something there, maybe it'll work.

That or Cam will be eating thru a straw by mid September, who knows.

Bell LT

Silatolu LG

Kalil C

Turner RG

Chandler RT

I think Bell is going to be far better LT than at RT.

If Chandler wins the LT I don't see Bell at RT any longer.

Yeah Bell is lookin like the opening day starter. This poo that Gettleman, Rivera, etc are shoving down everyone's throats like OH WE BELIEVE IN BYRON WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH HIS PROGRESSION ...lol it's propaganda and them trying to spin stuff their way. If Bell is the starter we are in serious trouble. Sorry. He seems like a good dude and his story is inspiring but he sucks and that's what it always comes down to.

Ok hear me out on this.

On running plays we leave a hole at LT. Cam hands the ball off to Deangelo (while Stewart rides the bike) and then Cam fills in as LT. Tolbert blocks to the outside.

Shula can't come up with this poo.

Yeah I like these guys but anything that comes out of their mouths should be considered BS. 31 other teams are listening for any nugget of truth.

Didn't Rivera flat out lie and say the Panthers would consider signing DeSean Jackson?

I will give them the benefit of the doubt until after training camp starts.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
