Jon Beason carted off field during non contact exercise.

It is my understanding that we are still paying Beason some millions of dollars and a 7th rounder is hardly fair trade value for a guy who started last year for the Giants.

At middle linebacker.

Beason was never going to start again over Luke.  And playing on the outside, he was a liability.  That's why he wound up benched for Chase Blackburn.

So how much is a bench warmer worth to you?  That's the question because as much as I like Beason, that's what he had become here.

Everyone loves Beason for all that he gave us, but that time is long past.  People need to remember that smart teams value players based on what they are now, not what they used to be.

How is it that people still call him beast

Two things that inexplicably seem to escape a lot of folks on here...

- Young players often improve from year to year

- Older players generally aren't what they used to be

Heck, when Steve Smith was released, to hear people talk on here you'd have thought he led the league in receptions and touchdowns just last year.

Your understanding is incorrect. We might be still having his bonus affecting our cap but that money was paid when he was extended in 2011.

Imagine how the Eagles must have felt with Desean Jackson.  He actually had some nice stats last year.

Getting rid of Beason was a lot like getting rid of Smith.  Only difference is when the Panthers cut Smith there was no budding young star to take his place like they had with Kuechly.
