If done the right way, I think this could actually be a good thing. One beneficial way of partnering with the NFL i could see would be loaning out practice squad players (like in professional soccer) to FXFL (or w/e) teams so they can actually get some game action rather than just going through practice motions and staying on the sideline

thoughts?

how are they going to get good players for $1000 a week?

Something tells me getting players isnt going to be a problem. Men want to compete, and Ive definitely heard my fair share of inter-mural sports gods at this point. Well now if those dudes think they got what it takes, they can just show up and try out. I'll bet some will play regardless of the $1000.

This is right on. If I could play semi professionally I would. It's not at the top level but still fun

This might be a good way to develop talented young players that didn't get drafted but that's about it.

Players that couldn't hack it in the league can't rely on $1,000 a week because $52,000 ain't going to feed the kids, support the wife, pay for the house, water, electricity, and taxes etc.

Wha???

What's the question?

If you're taking care of yourself $52K is more than enough. If you're trying to take care of a wife, two kids, a house, car, bills, etc...

Good luck... and enjoy paying house and car payments til your 80.

Not to mention, there are safer jobs where you can get paid $700 a week.

Median household income is $51,000. That's household not individual.

Those statistics are eschewed due to single people living by themselves working at McDonald's/gas stations/ food lion etc...

My guess is that most people that have career on this site make over 52K a year and their job isn't near as dangerous as playing football for $1,000 a week.

    • I know teams have been selling out to stop the run, but Ricos kind of fallen off a cliff.. not sure if hes hurt or just worn down but even when theres a hole he doesnt look anything like he did those few weeks prior.
    • nah, that's basically saying people can't call a spade a spade.  Which is crazy.  89 is not a good dude.  He might have done a couple good things but it will never erase what he has proven to be in front of the world.  I tell my kid all the time not to view celebrity athletes as anything but people that play a sport well.  Lot of garbage humans play on Sunday.   And you have no clue who the good guys actually are.  PR in today's world is also powerful.  There was a window when Deshawn Watson checked every good guy box that could ever existed from the public's perspective.
    • Some folks say it's because teams are playing more shell defenses preventing more longer passes.  The analytics folks would rather you pass for 7 years every down.  As you state, the crop of QBs is mixed as far as quality. I think when you put it all together, it's a recipe for less passing yards.
