Panthers.com : Ron Rivera's 2nd Annual Bowl-a-Palooza

 

Mrs. Coach is in the video too (she always comes off as a really cool lady). 

 

Video is reported by Sammi-Jo Francis who I've seen in a couple of team site videos (she's good).  Pretty good player participation too .  The video had Kuechly, Charles Johnson and Greg Olsen, among others.

 

Based on what I saw of Olsen's bowling technique, i'd say it's a good thing he's a football player :lol:  There's an insane shot by Jason Williams near the end of the clip though.  Rivera seemed to indicate that Williams is the team's best bowler.

After watching that "how the @%$& did he do that" shot he makes at the end of the clip, I'd say he's right.

 

I'm no bowling expert but man... :unsure:

 

 

Nuthin but a lefty putting a little turn on the ball getting the 3-9 sleeper.  Text book shot though.

 

Pretty easy to make a ball hook like that if you have your own ball and it is a finger tip grip.

 

That looked like his own ball. 

 

That looks like something I want to do one year.

lefties almost always have natural curve to their ball, it was good pick up for a spare.  He would make a  good member on a league team.

A couple of things contribute to that.  The left side of the lane is used less and if oiled properly at the beginning of the day will hold up better so it is more consistent and slides better.  Secondly if the balls are stock ones from the bowling alley they are drilled in the middle and not offset or weighted.  To get spin you have to use wrist action. But if the ball is his own and customized it will often be weighted and offset specifically so it will spin naturally.  Some folks even have a different ball if they want to throw flatter and with less spin like when they are making spares.

      It's not sustainable,  although he deserve credit for the win also, as he made clutch plays as he does with every win we have.

      As much as I would love to sit here and bash on Young.  I can't.   He is absolutely a part of this team winning.  He is the cool hand leading the offense along with the hammer, Rico.  He's making plays on 3rd and 4th downs, that are absolutely helping thus team win.  Is Bryce playing as well as we'd like? Nope. Although he had only 1 week off from a high ankle sprain.   No question he was 100% in the Greenbay game.  I'm not even sure where the team would find a clear upgrade over Byrce.  He is a leader.  In the 4th quarter, he has ice in his veins.  He is a part of why our team is enjoyable to watch again.  Without him, we wouldn't be winning.    Anyways.  Y'all enjoy yet another thread designed to tear down the man.

      Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
