On Tuesday evening Sammi Jo and I will be sitting down with Jay Weezie from WFNZ. Jay also has a really great beer podcast he does , Cheers Charlotte. We will be discussing the best football brews with him. Also, fan fest and training camp tips, matchups, and the usual dose of nonsense and tomfoolery.

Your thoughts on your favorite football brew?

Yay! I was just thinking it was about time for a new episode.

Just give me an ice cold Corona with lots of limes and I'm happy. Or hell, a bottle of Moscato will do it too.

I get to my tailgate spot around 8:30Am. I drink roughly 8-9 Miller Lites while I cook before going into the game. Miller Lite is a great tailgate beer. When I'm at the house for road games then I will mix in an IPA. I'm not a hard core craft beer bro so for football tailgates I go with mass produced stuff.

This is my strategy too. Miller lite is great for the long haul of day drinking. Can get down a bunch and feel energetic and ready for the game, whereas if I had 6-7 IPAs I would be ready for a nap.

I look for something around 6% ABV. Pales and IPA at the beginning if the season switching to darker stuff like browns, porters and stouts in the fall. I try to keep enough home brew on hand to not have to buy commercial stuff and will even bottle it from my keg when going to a game.

Nothing says football season to me like Sam Adams octoberfest. They start selling it in September right around when football is gearing up and it is one of my favorite beers.

In before everyone starts naming their favorite obscure microbrews.

Miller Lite when tailgaiting or drinking for quantity. When I'm at home and only having a few I'll do IPAs in the summer (Bell's two hearted is the best) and stouts in the fall/winter (Duckrabbit Milk Stout being my fave.)

Truth be told, I drink Miller Lite about 90% of the time.

Heineken, Sam Adams, Blue Moon, Two Hearted

If I tailgate I drink some rum/coke followed with something above, I just can't drink light beer after the first 1/4 bottle it turns to piss. Drinking Heineken all day is easy.

By the way, my neighbors are craft beer bro's which I respect, but holy poo they act like wine connoisseur's with their beer. I enjoy beer without being a snobby know it all douche. I love my bro's though.

    • If Henderson just got a concussion and will possibly/probably now miss next week as well, gotta think missing 2 games of stats at this point of the year might knock him out as he was only just entering the discussion the last few weeks anyways.  Same goes for Judkins going down today too, and Dart's god awful game likely removes him from the conversation as well. It will be interesting to see how the voters compare T-Mac and Egbuka if they end up with stats that are nearly identical. Egbuka burst onto the scene and put up the bulk of his stats early in the year when Baker was playing like the MVP front runner.  While T-Mac was just more consistent throughout the course of the full season (ex. Egbuka has 8 games of 42 yards or less, T-Mac has 4 of them, while T-Mac still scored 3 TDs in those 4 games, where Egbuka only scored 1 TD in his 8). It would be a shame if they put too much weight on the final game of the season if that ends up being the division decider, as I think T-Mac has had the better SEASON while Egbuka had a better peak output during that first month or so but way cooled off since. Maybe Warren goes off in the last 3 games (they still play tomorrow), but it does seem to be down to T-Mac and Egbuka right now.
    • Mitchell Evan’s put a block on someone that he drove them all the way out of bounds and to the bench. He absolutely destroyed the guy. He’s gonna be a beast for us if he keeps that up.
    • Yall... stop taking a sample size and projecting a role player into a permanent starter cuz he had a decent year after what, 5? Come on
