My last shot of Steve Smith as a Panther....

He's my favorite player in the history of the franchise.  In terms of having a favorite player for this season, someone I can really identify with, I'm still not sure.  I'm not happy with how it went down and I may not ever be, but you can't turn back the clock and you can't reverse the past.  I guess what I can hope for is a Baltimore/Carolina SB with the 'Cats taking home their first trophy but Steve having a good enough year to be cemented in the Hall.

for a guy who's my favorite play of all time it's strange to me how completely i've moved on

same here.

i always thought it would bother me, but instead i just don't care. i'm too excited about the team we have right now and the potential they have this season and going forward. my mind is set on the guys wearing the jersey right now. when smitty retires as a panther, i'm sure i'll feel it more, but for now he's just another guy on another team. i've got no hard feelings toward him either because i know that if it were up to him he'd still be here. i just hope he has a bad night when we play them this year.

Yeah I'm in the phillyb boat. When he hangs 'em up I'm sure I'll get the feels but right now I just want to crush him and watch him weep when we play them as I do every other team.

The fact that espn has made his "devastating" departure their needed reasoning for our "inevitable destruction" so one of their favorite teams can climb back up to relevancy this season really makes me care less about his leaving as well.

I have been trying to but I can't drum up any hate for Smitty.  He is the only player I have ever watched where I have not once questioned whether he came to play. I mean he is like family.  Do I dislike some of the things he has done? Yeah.  But it comes down to the fact that he is family, and you love him anyway.  Other than when he is on the other side of the field, he will always be one of my favorites.  That being said I hope we crush Bmore and he doesn't get a catch, but for the rest of the year I hope he balls out.

Been reading the Ravens board, its funny as hell. A lot of them dont understand his recent "bully" comments; saying he needs to shut up... I think that statue needs to come sooner than later. Whether both parties have moved on or not, 89 is fugin legend.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
