Let Cam Sit This Week

Every rib injury is different. I understand that. But my experience and everyone I've talked to with rib injuries are consistent...they hurt like a b!tch for a long time, i.e. months.

Sitting him this week is not going to get him to 100% the following week. He's going to be managing pain for probably most of the season. So it makes sense to limit his reps during the week (like yesterday) so the soreness is minimized on gameday. He'll pay the price on Mondays, but it's just something that takes a long time to fully recover from whether he sits or not.

So, worst case scenario is, Cam plays and breaks his ribs even more by taking a shot. He misses time.

How hard would the same people gnashing their teeth at the idea of sitting him for a week cry out and ask why Rivera played him?

I agree Cam should sit.

Anderson or even Webb can do pretty much what a sore Cam will do on Sunday if he were to start : Hand the ball off and make a few passes. As far as a pure passing goes, I do not see that Cam is any better than DA. Take away the scramble/read options which Cam most likely wouldn't be doing anyway because of the injury...and there doesnt seem to be much of a difference..certainly not one to risk aggravating either of his injuries.

My God.

Nevermind.

Do you really think the front office, coaches, and training staff would risk our franchise QB if he was not medically cleared? Even if he doesn't play week 1, there are still 15 more games to play. Are we going to do this "I'm a doctor, listen to what I say!" song and dance every week?

I don't understand the assumptions that we will win.  Basing this years predictions on last years performance is somewhat flawed and the quality of certain teams changes on a year to year basis.  Add to that personnel changes for both teams and a coaching staff change for Tampa, and it adds up to this game being an unknown.

Personally I think that this will be a low scoring defensive battle, and we will need all of our offensive weapons to win.  If Cam can't or doesn't play, that negatively impacts our chances at winning.

And here folks..is another sad nuthugger who cant see logic. I ask you, which player had more play time during preseason...Cam or Anderson? Which of the two had more completed passes...Cam or Anderson? Which of the two had more time in full practice because they were not nursing an injury...Cam or Anderson? Which one is more game ready..Cam or Anderson?

Which one will be cost our team more if we lose..Cam or Anderson?

The only question that matters is who gives us the best chance to win? That answer is fairly simple

Cam is playing this week you can pretty much count on that, unless he absolutely cannot practice today, then they may consider the other option.  i just hope it doesnt effect his throws too much

Never said I'm a doctor. But, typical Red, you just like to argue with anything because your panthers' knowledge, and football knowledge, is unmatched.

Forgive me, O' Red!

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
