Can Frank Alexander fill the void and get this line back on tract?

So C.J isn't playing well and the tackles are getting double teamed due to the loss of Hardy. I guess he had much more impact that I gave him credit for, but he probably will not play another down here. The LB'ers are now getting jammed and can not get separation. The secondary isn't talented enough to compensate for this. I was wrong about Addison being able to step up and do the job on a constant basis as a starter. Alexander has to be the guy to step up and take this job on.Kony may or may not pan out. Big Frank has shown flashes and had a good camp. For this defense to get back to a high level someone needs to fill that position and play well. Let's hope he can do what needs to be done.

I hope he can be.  It's nice having DE depth but we need a guy that's a true 3 down player and not a situational pass rusher or run stopper.  Hopefully Frank can be solid in both phases and let Addison/Horton go back to being the rotational guys.

I never expected Kony to contribute much this year.  I think he's got the ability to be a great DE, but he's probably a year away from being a consistent contributor and 2 years away from Hardy/CJ impact.

I don't think of him much as one but for God's sake we're getting murdered out there and he's basically our only hope at this point

even before now, back when the discussion was do we tag Hardy or let him test FA...  Somehow Frank was going to put up 10 sacks this year.

our only hope may not be much better than Addison...

it's not like we have a choice at this point.  we need something to go right at the DE spot and we need it now.

this team is really in an interesting spot.  the fact that we've taken two bad losses in a row isn't as substantial as it would have been in past years because the saints/falcons haven't been up to their usual business peeling away from the rest of the division in the opening weeks.  getting some wins inside the conference would be huge for tiebreaker scenarios at the end of the year.

CJ has been a disappointment.  With the money he's making their is no excuse for his play.  People claiming he was better than Hardy were off their rocker.  Hardy all day, everyday. He was clearly the catalyst to making the line work.

Alexander is better than what is out there right now, but the entire line is going to have to have a come to Jesus meeting and figure out what they want to be.  It sucks that the pass rush is lacking, but what is most disheartening, with the strong rep this front has had, is watching them get mauled on the run.  The linebackers have been caught out of position at times.  However, most times they don't have a chance.  The front 4 are allowing the o-line to get in on our backers with ease.  They are swallowing up our guys as the running backs go right by them.   You rarely ever saw that last season.   What you saw was a front disrupting all kinds of poo and linebackers flying in to fill the gaps at the LOS.

If it's not blatantly odvious how big an impact Greg was by now then some people will never get it it! Frank will help but he's not the dominate defensive end that Greg was, say what you want about the kraken but his presence on the field impacted our defense at every level! I have hope for frank to get some production but Greg will continue to be sorely missed! SOMEONE has to step up

    • take a  look around the league at other young Qb's around Bryce Young's age group  such as Drake Maye , Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix , CJ Stroud  & Caleb Williams who at the time like Bryce Young they also were drafted also joined teams with a losing record .the only difference with these Qb's is after joining their teams with a losing record they led those same teams to a winning record in a very short period of time .it's simply what you call a game changer & or elite Qb's & then take a  look at  the other side of the coin you have Qb's such as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields  & Anthony Richardson also like Bryce Young all first round picks who instead of winning either did not play or led their teams to a losing record while playing  just because Bryce Young was a #1 overall pick does not necessarily mean that he will become improve with time if history tells you anything it's matter of fact just the opposite . lBryce Young who has an overall record of 14-30 & wildly inconsistent & never in the history pf the NFL has a Qb 5'10" or shorter had a successful carrer as Qb in the NFL  you have to ignore alot of FACTS & be really ignorant to the FACT to think Bryce Young is the future at Qb if anything history is telling you exactly what ?..just saying

    • to me these two signings were so bad for the Panthers at the time of our young team. "Sean Gilbert was signed by the Carolina Panthers on April 21, 1998, after being traded from the Washington Redskins in a deal that sent the Panthers two first-round picks (Nos. 5 and 12) to Washington. The Panthers then re-signed Gilbert to a 7-year, $46.5 million contract extension on the same date"  The other was Jason Peters being picked in the First round of the 1998 draft. "Peter played for the Panthers from 1998 to 2001, appearing in 38 games (starting 20) and recording 88 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 1 fumble recovery His NFL career was cut short by a chronic neck stinger, forcing him to retire after the 2001 season
