It was a smart play, it was not an athletic one. If a kicker or offensive lineman had been in position, they too could have picked the ball up and had a chance to outrun everyone else in that position. Not impressive, but smart and I'll take it.

Philly's problem is he is out of position.  On all of those muffs, he's sprinting to where the ball is coming down.  If you have to get into position as the ball is coming down, I would rather you back away from it.  So Brown will have to position himself better so he can catch the ball cleanly.

I fully believe if Cason hadn't recovered that muff from earlier, we would have lost that game. That's how close we came. How many more times can the coaches afford to send him out there?

 

He might get some leeway.  Devin Hester had six punt/fumbles in his first season, 5 the next year.  Steve Smith had 3, then 4.  If the staff thinks he has the potential to get big yards on returns, they might be willing to risk it.

He scares the poo out of me every time he is back there. I don't think I have even seen him field a punt cleanly. He is either catching it up high on his chest or falling backwards. I think a few times he's fallen to the ground after catching it without being touched.
