Melvin White, is that you?

I thought this was a team game. The team just played better in the second half.

What happened in the Pitt and Baltimore game when White started? Exactly.....

The team played a different strategy which started with blitzes and press coverage.  White played a big role.  In the first half, Jeffrey easily beat Norman's press and caught passes.  Of course its a team game and defense played better later on in the game.  When we tried to blitz in the first half, who got beat for a top ten catch?

You do know that Jeffrey got most of his 97 yards after Norman was gone right?  You do realize that White and Godfrey were demoted for some of the exact same thing that you're trying to attribute to Norman, right?  Moreover, Rivera didn't particularly care for David Gettis from what I remember, so the Norman comparison is not exactly on point.  Norman was starting for a reason, and adequately doing his job when he left the game.

Jeffrey beat Norman over the top, which apparently can't be recalled by anyone but me.  I am not saying that White doesn't have his faults.  He did rebound from the Baltimore game last week with some good plays though.  I am talking Norman/Gettis because of the flash and then you get nothing track record both possess.  Also, Rivera gave Gettis a chance along with Lafell the year we brought Legaduu on and both of them disappointed.  That is why Nanee was added.  Norman has only produced in preseason where as White helped us win a division title.  My skepticism is warranted regarding Norman.  His attitude and lack of discipline have been well documented.    When we get something tangible from Norman in the course of the season, bring this back up and I will relent.  Until then, the proof is in the pudding.

How many time has White been beat and missed tackles this year?

Norman isn't afraid to hit someone bigger than him. Norman wraps up too. He was great at run support.

I'm not saying White isn't good either, I'm just stating your hate for Norman is unwarranted.

No one said that Norman was perfect. And regarding getting beaten over the top, that happens to the best of them, otherwise receivers like Jeffrey wouldn't earn a paycheck.  Moreover, I am thinking that everyone is skeptical of Norman for good reason, but to try and use the little time that he played vs. the Bears should warrant some optimism from what I saw. Furthermore, the play of White this year, particularly against the Steelers and Baltimore (who happen to be in Cinci's division), should lend to some skepticism also, and just the fact that Rivera has faith in Norman in light of the situation should at least give rise to a little bit of optimism (or at least objectivity and not the default mode of unwarranted bashing) in this situation.

If I were you, I would at least refrain from summoning the negativity about this hopefully new and improved version of Norman until I see a larger sample size, particularly since White hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire this year.

On an off note, i would hope that White can redeem himself even more being that he'll more than likely be facing WR3s/4s this week in Cincinatti.  We will see.

I am looking toward the future and hoping he will be better.  It is disappointing because one I am used to a more dominating defense after last year.  Two, I am hoping we can continue to develop players.  He has the talent and needs to continue to quit fighting the coaches on dumb sh*t.  He may prove to be a better player than White down the line, but with their sample size of real games being close White is more productive at this point.

Do you remember the Baltimore game?

Or the fact that White was a huge reason the WRs were almost completely shut down in the 2nd half of the Bears game?

I like Melvin.  Really didn't mean to start a controversy about it.  Melvin has come up with some big plays and so has Cason.  Cason forces a lot of turnovers which is why he has the edge imo.

TBH,  I don't think our cbs are that bad.  We're not seeing them get beat deep.  It was run D that cost us against the Steelers and I'll give Roethlisberger some credit....that was one hell of a ball fake on his TD pass. One of the TD's we gave up against the Ravens was on a flukey tip ball.

They did a great job against the Lions.  As long as we have a good pass rush I don't think we need to get a corner in the early rounds of the draft.  I thought bringing back Dockery was a good decision, he had some good moments at the end of last season.

I caught bits and pieces of the Baltimore game......I got married that Sunday.
