Why did Gettleman go away from the free agency plan that worked last year?

Last year, he seemed to primarily go for young guys with elite physical talent who just hadn't put it all toget her yet. This year? Old, over the hill retread who are just happy someone in the NFL is willing to cut them a check. We lost every bit of speed we had at WR and DB from last year. This has to be the slowest overall NFL team I've ever seen. This game is clearly highlighting our lack of team speed.

There will be a lot of cap-related responses but the fact that we signed these older and inconsistent types (Cason, Harper, DeCoud, etc.) with decent contracts is inexcusable.  DG carved out money and brought in crap through the FA this offseason.

This is a roster that would have us in the running for the #1 overall pick if it wasn't for Cam.

This is my problem with Gettleman. He's not even practicing what he's preaching, and we're getting fuged in the trenches because of "my predecessor spent lots of money! Wah!"

He had a little luck in those kind of guys being available. Usually at our price range you get the old guys. Which is what we have this year
