Is Shia LaBeouf a "great" actor?

I don't know about "good" as his acting goes, but the second I saw him in that Even Stevens show I told my family he was going to be a big star. He has a crazy great comic sensibility even though he doesn't use it as much these days.

Shia Lebouf barely achieves "good", much less great.  A young actor I think has potential to evolve into great is Chloe Grace Moretz.  Seen lots of range in her different roles.

I've only seen her in Carrie. It seemed (to me) she was acting more like Sissy Spacek than Carrie White.

I'd add in DiCaprio as well. I think he comes off as a douche in real life, but there's no denying he has a good range in his skill and has a different feel in each of his films dependent on role.

 

 

No question Leo is a grear actor. He may get the Paul Newman treatment and not win an Oscar until much later.

 

 

i always thought he was just ok until the Departed.

 

that one scene where martin sheen gets thrown off the building as he's walking around the corner. His expression changing from "holy fug what am i going to do he's one of the only people who knows i'm a cop" to his criminal buddies walking out and asking him where the fug he had been is some top notch acting. 

 

i was enthralled by him that entire movie.

Those are all movies that she was either the star of, or a major supporting role.  She was also in Dark Shadows, but her character didn't have much to it.  She's been in lots of movies but these are her most significant ones in my opinion.

let me in (or let the right one in) was such a great movie, both the english and swedish versions. such a difficult role for the boy and girl actors. she did incredibly well with it. i did a quick image search for her just to see if she was who i was thinking of and the pics from now make her look quite a bit different from that role. i barely recognized her.

Chloe Grace Moretz was also in a movie with Jennifer Lawrence years ago called The Poker House.  I remember commenting to the girl I was seeing at the time that the movie sucked but I liked both of them, particularly Lawrence.

 

Looking at Chloe's body of work she has incredible potential.

I hate vampire crap and I love that movie.  It actually convinced me to read the book, which was equally amazing.  The pool scene at the end is one of my favorite endings ever.
