U sticking up for this waste of a pick?

Second round picks are suppose to be game ready...

So true.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks should make an impact for their team as a starter or reserve in year one. Developmental players are 4th through 7th rounds.

Ealy is a waste of a second round pick. There is a reason he was falling and the Panthers scouting department failed to see it. He was a 4th/5th round talent the Panthers picked in the 2nd round.

brown was supposed to be a dwight freeney clone who just rushed the hell out of the passer. the defense we ran then asked a lot of our DEs when it came to playing the run so he was woefully outmatched. he was a lot smaller than ealy to boot. ealy is built more like hardy and will look the part more after he puts in some work in an NFL weight training program.

brown ended up being something of a lousy player regardless but there have been tons of really good defensive ends who were completely overwhelmed when they first came into the league. hell two of them play (well, played in hardy's case) for us right now.

Ron Meeks was the DC at the time and was trying to rebuild what he'd had with the Colts (I wasn't a fan).

    • Man, I havent posted in a while, happy to see the forum is alive and well!  Really excited about this upcoming season, and this draft class!  Lee Hunter will be an instant fan favorite, i might go ahead and purchase his jersey.  Will be interesting to see what we do at Receiver, a lot of talent and a lot of bodies, does XL get traded, or do they give him a shot this season to see what he has?
    • Goings was good too.
    • I appreciate TMo, he has been a rock. Plug and play, set and forget. But there are stories that they ice his knees or knee in game when he goes to the sidelines. If it is that bad that is pretty rough and it probably won’t get better with age and more wear.     You want to pay him, and commit that money, I shouldn’t object. But let’s at least roll him over a year at a time.  He isn’t a particularly good long term gamble.
