Michael Irvin thinks we're the team set for the playoffs

and not the Saints

USA TODAY Sports: Which of these two teams is built best for a run in the playoffs?

Irvin: “I would say the Panthers, because they can win games on the road. They play great defense and they can travel, when they’re committed to playing. That was a physical game last week against the Seattle Seahawks. That was a physical game. If the Panthers play like that — if they hit the Saints like they were hitting Seattle — that’s going to be a tough game for the Saints.

“The Panthers have that in them. I think they have that opportunity. The Saints don’t have that in them, but they have more dynamic ability on offense.”

NFL.com disagrees.  Man, do they.

Judy Battista, Brian Billick, Gil Brandt, Bucky Brooks, Charley Casserly, Dave Dameshek, Elliot Harrison, Adam Schein all pick the Saints

Michael Silver picks the Falcons.

Judy Battista: New Orleans Saints. Does there have to be a winner of this division? OK, if you insist, I'll go with New Orleans. Because at least Drew Brees is still good.

Brian Billick: Saints. Drew Brees is better than Cam Newton.

Gil Brandt: Saints. With no one else in this division really playing well, the Saints should be able to reach the playoffs with nine wins.

Bucky Brooks: Saints. Mark Ingram's breakout campaign helps the Saints' offense regain the explosiveness that made it one of the most feared units in football for years.

Charley Casserly: Saints. Atlanta and Tampa Bay won't challenge for the playoffs. New Orleans is a better team than Carolina. Two of their four losses have occurred because of breakdowns in the secondary. I'm betting on them cleaning up those problems.

Dave Dameshek: Saints. Healthy Graham and Ingram = enough wins to take the lousy South.

Elliot Harrison: Saints. New Orleans wins the NFC South with 10 wins -- tops. Honestly, in this division, it probably won't take anywhere near that.

Adam Schein: Saints. Could the Saints win the division at 7-9?

Michael Silver: Atlanta Falcons. Hey, someone has to win this brutal division. It likely won't be my preseason pick, a.k.a. The Yucks.

This entire article is taken down if the Panhers win tonight as the "experts" begin a mad scramble to retake some credibility.

Cam is just way too streaky and inconsistent, he has single handily cost us too many games by not throwing the ball away when we get in FG range and takes a sack to get us out of FG range, it happened last week and has happened plenty of times before.

I absloutely hate it when he doesnt throw the ball away, he throws that ball away last week and we get the FG, its a different game.

he must be back on the crack

:)

That crack is called "cash." Mike is a weekly guest on Primetime on WFNZ, so maybe there's a little homerism there, but he isn't totally off. The Panthers should be the more physical team tonight. The problem is twofold. One, they are rarely the smartest team on the field. Smart beats physical most of the time. And two, this guy won't be playing tonight.

    • I am not a Bryce fan, but I am not a hater either.  He's not the worst in NFL history, he's not even the worst starting quarterback this team has had.  Look at this list:   Frank Reich Kerry Collins Chris Weinke Matt Lytle Randy Fasani Vinny Testaverde Matt Moore Jimmy Clausen Brian St. Pierre Kyle Allen Taylor Heinicke Teddy Bridgewater And he has the highest completion percentage of any Panther quarterback ever. He not great. but worst in NFL history? Come on...... *https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Carolina_Panthers_starting_quarterbacks
    • TBQH, Jackson is performing almost as well as Horn in terms of coverage. So, although the scheme we run doesn't always allow Horn to be at his best, it does make things easier on others and it has proven to be pretty effective in coverage more often than not. His defense overall is designed to stress the QB's decision making.  The biggest complication has been one of the worst front 7 units in the NFL and at times, in the history of our franchise. But, Evero also deserves a pretty healthy chunk of the blame for that because several of these bums have been publicly stated to be "Evero guys."  The front seven has to produce a lot of pressure itself and has to be very disciplined in run support. Those are two areas that have generally been quite bad.  It's not really the scheme. It's the fact that we have so many bums on that side of the ball and/or play guys in positions we have no business playing them. Again, Evero does get some blame for a chunk of that.
    • There are probably dozens of folks on here that were saying that pre draft, I mean there are receipts,  if you want to get into it go for it but you know there were a ton of folks that were screaming his college production was all a sham.  Being the "truth" at alabama doesnt really mean jack fuging poo in the nfl.  And the proof is in the pudding as they say. But this poverty ass franchise seems to be content to roll with this shitty midget for 2 more years
