And the Panthers rookie of the year is....

Jeremy Igo

Quite possibly the dumbest statement yet. As if 1000 yards and 9 touchdowns is minor, just throw away stats. Without that production we don't win the Division.

Here's his stats during our wins/tie.

@ TB        6-92-1

vs DET     2-46

vs CHI      3-38

@ CIN       7-49-1

@NO         2-24-1

TB            8-104

CLE          5-47

ATL           1-9

If you really think that his contributions in these games are more important than Norwell's and Bene's then you don't know anything about football. And he has hindered this team big time by dropping crucial passes in crucial times.

Black & Blue Review @BlackBlueReview

FWIW, Kelvin Benjamin has caught 16 of 35 targets during four-game win streak and he & Cotchery each have one TD.

He's got those numbers because of his role being so large. He's done well for a rookie but there are dozens of other WRs that could step into the same role and do a better job in helping us win games or putting up stats in garbage time.

I'm not saying KB hasn't contributed to our team - he obviously has. But to say that his contributions have been as important as Norwell's and Bene's would be absolutely absurd.

Bene has been ranked as PFF's #2 overall corner since coming back from injury. His contributions to our defense stepping up it's play and allowing us to win games is much larger than anything KB has done.

And Norwell the most important piece on the offensive line right now outside of Kalil. He has solidified the line and been the reason that Jonathan Stewart was the leading rusher in the last 5 weeks of this season and that Cam has been dominating on the ground. It's no coincidence that our run game has been averaging 200 yards per game and our defense has been allowing 10 points per game during our last 4 games and we won all 4 of those games.

While there have been contributions from other players on both sides of the ball, the most crucial play from rookies has been Bene and Norwell, hands down. We haven't won any games this year by beating them through the air. We've won games by running the ball (Cam or Stew) and playing great defense. Both Tampa games with Anderson where KB put up some stats were wins because of the defense (and Bene), not KB.

Also a very selective "since coming back from injury" has been the second best. Which means he isn't the second best overall for the whole season.

Missing those 6 games is very critical

Those 6 games without Bene we were 0-5-1. With Bene, 7-3.

Best Rookie on the team: Bene

Underrated Rookie: Philly

Underrated Rookie nobody outside of this board talks about: Norwell

Best rookie season, but real fans are frustrated with: Kelvin Benjamin

A rookie that finally shored up a spot on the line: Trai Turner

This but also

A rookie that shored up our FS spot: Tre Boston

this is slightly off topic but i want to commend all the rookies for not allowing themselves to hit the proverbial "rookie wall" the team seems more fresh than its been all year even though we are giving more reps to the rooks. i hope it continues.

Benji might be the one exception but the kid has put up a 1,000 yard rookie season. i will not complain about him hitting a rookie wall. i just hope he can keep playing at a high level for just a few more weeks

.. he just needs to work on his drops.  neither were as important as KB.

This can all be looked at in so many different angles; it's almost impossible to choose a top rookie.

thats like saying a running back needs to work on his running.  I want KB to do well but at this point he is too inconsistent and as someone mentioned a lot of his yards came in garbage time.

    • If Mays has a market, which it seems he will, he's gone.  I think we bring back Nijman for too much money to be cautious at LT, Corbett comes back cheap since he's already said he wants to live in CLT, and Christensen eventually gets re-signed with the hopes he can be depth at some point.  Draft an OT, draft a C. The OL might be rough for stretches next year, but time to get some youth there to prepare for Bryce in 2027 or the next QB. I still think we compete for the division in 2026 and can go back to the playoffs unlike the oddsmakers in Vegas, but the *real* year is 2027 IMO. Either Bryce has proven it and he's the QB looking at his 2nd contract, or we have the ready-made team for the next rookie QB or Vet we trade for.
    • The Panthers are going to have a lot more flexibility in free agency than it looks like at first glance. On paper, the cap space might seem tight, but there are several obvious restructure candidates that could easily free up significant room. Between converting base salaries into signing bonuses and spreading cap hits out over future years, Carolina could realistically clear $60–80 million in additional space if they wanted to be aggressive. That kind of flexibility means they’re not stuck. They can extend key young pieces, add help along the offensive line, upgrade the defense, and still be strategic about value signings. Letting Cade Mays test the market makes sense from a leverage standpoint. If he’s willing to come back on a team-friendly deal, great, continuity on the line matters. But if his market price climbs, the Panthers should absolutely explore upgrades. The point is, this front office isn’t boxed in. With cap maneuvering and smart structuring, they have the ability to be active players in free agency rather than sitting on the sidelines like we are used too.
