So Cotchery is signed to a 5yr deal?

After looking up the numbers I didnt realize that Dave gave him a 5 year deal. One could say that was a mistake   how things have panned out. Any cap experts that can shed some light to his and Harpers deal?

I believe it's a 2 year deal with 3 optional years. Not certain though

He would be OK for one more year as a #3 or #4. Don't underestimate his value on the practice field and in the locker room. And, he catches the ball most of the time when he is open.

Like I said in another thread, we needed someone to eventually be Cam's Proehl and it may as well be Cotchery.  Someone needs to help Proehl teach the young wrs, especially on the field, and now it's just up to us to find a consistent speedy wr and for the love of all gods a punt returner.  I'm not even greedy enough to be asking for a real kick returner!  Let's just get a punt returner for now.

I actually like the idea of keeping Harper as a backup/mentor.

That's a good point.

He was Pitts WR #3, not their #2.

Cotchery seems like an ideal slot guy, has sure hands (aside from the ball that he dropped early in the game), runs nice routes, etc.   

 

What you guys need is a formidable #2 IMO.

Still does not explain why he is lazy on his routes and just flat out stops on some of them though. I guess you get what you pay for with him.
