Hardy's Heart is in Carolina

Hardy will be back. He's going to take a pay cut and he's going to accept it gladly. The guy just sat out a year and watched as we failed to get pressure, which is his specialty. I think Hardy is classy enough to think "maybe if I had been out there, we might have won more".

I think Hardy is going to come back with a vengeance. Dude can't be greedy in what he asks for and he knows it. He got free money for a year. He nor his agent are going to ask for a lot of money after that. If he shows out after whatever contract we sign him to and blows the league up, then we can talk big pay day if the money is there and we can afford it.

If Big Money doesn't restructure  his $20M cap hit and is possibly released....  and Hardy truly is gone for good,  no matter the jury verdict.  then I feel our pass rush is going to be severely lacking in '15.    With G-man looking for diamonds in the rough in the bargain bin,   to star on our Dline.

watching JR cry, I assure you, Hardy will never play for carolina again

Here's the thing.. If JR has given control to Gettleman to put the best team on the field, and Gettleman does not use emotion when making personnel decisions, then it is very possible that Hardy comes back. This is assuming of course that he is willing to take less money to play here and that he is found not guilty.

A recent ESPN article (link at the bottom) included some interesting comments from Josh Norman, who says he's spoken with Greg Hardy.

"His heart is in Carolina," Norman said. "I had a talk with him. He wants to be here. He don't want to go nowhere else. He wants to be in Carolina. He even told me he would play for free. That's what he told me verbatim out of his mouth."

We'll see how true that holds. But the prospect of getting one of the leagues top pass rushers on the cheap is very intriguing, whether he's found guilty or not.

Uh, Hardy was offered a 8-9/mil year contract and turned it down before being tagged did he not?

Before he sat out an entire season getting paid 13 mil to do nothing.

Hardy has always been the guy who wants to get paid for what he earns. He came off a career high season and wanted to get paid accordingly.

He got caught up in a DV issue at the worst time in NFL history and got paid 13 mil to do nothing. He obviously wants to repay that 13 mil and earn himself another contract.

You guys talking about Hardy only cares about money are completely wrong and overstate that point waaaaaaay to much

The guy was a sixth round pick and barely made anything his rookie contract and then came off a 15 sack season of course he wanted to get his. Now circumstances are completely different and a lot of you are butt hurt about.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
