Colts are gonna royally fug their salary cap

He's earned it. We we're so close to drafting him, but he clearly didn't want to come here. Ask the Saints what happens when you pay your QB too much.

He's earned a good deal, but if they throw so much money at him there's no money left to surround him with talent at other spots, they're screwing their chances of success.

The 100 million dollar quarterback model has yet to be a great success for any team that's tried it.

Honestly, I think Ryan Grigson is gonna drive that team into the ground.

As to the whole Luck vs Cam thing...

Objectively speaking, yes Luck is better than Cam right now.

Being practical, so frigging what?

As long as our guy is good, who gives a rat's anus if someone else is better?

The object is to build the best team and win Super Bowls.  The Panthers are going about that the right way.  The Colts, on the other hand, have paid Hakeem Nicks 3.5 million to be a fourth receiver and traded a first round pick for Trent Richardson.  And now GM Ryan Grigson is about to throw a contract at his QB that'll hamstring the team from building around him.

Yes they're successful now, but they're not being smart about the future.

I don't envy that situation at all.

The NFCS was bad this year, what was Cam's record against them? We cannot continue to discredit those wins when even we cannot get those wins.

Yes, but the NFCS isn't bad EVERY year. The AFCS have had at least 2 teams from their division in the top 10 every year since 2011.

That division is always trash. I honestly didn't realize it until I looked it up. Makes me really question how great Peyton Manning actually was considering how poorly he plays in the playoffs.

Is Cam perfect? No

Would 20-23 teams kill for a QB like Newton bc their QB is so freakin avg at best? Yes.

Keep on feeling like a D Anderson would carry this team deeper into the playoffs or a Kyle Orton type.

The market for a young franchise QB is 20-25 mill per year. It just is. There are zero free agent or rookie QBs id rather have over him nor would I think they are better.

Is Luck better? Sure he always had a more refined pass game to run and his dad was an NFL QB. He deserves his contract.

I hope one of these young guys decides to take less per year but more guaranteed to surround them with a better team. I hope that guy is Cam but why should he?

Why does everything have to be Cam vs Luck? How does their success affect us at all? Luck is about to get paid good for him. go Panthers

Because everything is "Cam vs Luck."

What some of you fail to realize is the main reason the media loves to praise Luck, Wilson and Kaepernick is because they hate Cam Newton so much and that they need to take the success of those guys' teams and compare it to Cam's, when if there was no Cam Newton, they would've been comparing those three guys to Rodgers, Brady and Manning the last 3 years. Much of the press those guys get is just to spite Cam. If Rodgers and Brady win today, the media will immediately shift to how much Wilson and Luck still have to learn, which is where it should've been the last three seasons anyway, not gushing all over those guys just so they can knock Cam down.

If you think they're doing it just because those guys deserve it, you're fooling yourselves. Cam's total offensive production is better than Wilson's, and on par with Luck's. If they deserve it, why doesn't Cam? Because of their overall team success? Keep believing that's what it is.

Around here, Newton will never be good enough for many because he's not who they wanted and they haven't gotten over missing on Luck, even though their total production is nearly identical and Luck went back to school and spurned Carolina. Given these special circumstances, Luck and Cam will always be compared. Get used to it.

Could Luck do what Cam does with Shula calling the plays? What would that outcome be?

Luck is good though. I don't hate him. Great player and from the looks of it a great leader.

Luck is irrelevant. The problem is the haters around here and in the media. Most of us don't argue to put down Luck; just to get it through some of these DENSE SKULLS around here that Luck, statistically, hasn't done any more than Cam has, he just has certain advantages, number one of which is not being detested for no reason, therefore, his production is considered otherworldly, while Cam's similar production is cause for concern.

Oh, and playing 8 games a year in a dome and in one of the consistently worst divisions in football doesn't hurt either.

That's pointing out "facts," not hating on Luck. It's meant for idiots to see. Luck will never see it.

    • We have seen Bryce get outplayed by all manner of QBs, from UDFAs to second round picks.  If we actually scouted any QBs it would not be a difficult task to upgrade from Bryce, you guys act like he is even decent. He is one of the worst starters league wide stop making excuses.
    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
