Deflate-Gate: Patriots Being Investigated For Deflated Footballs

Recommended Posts

Rest of the post is irrelevant. That statement was wrong and whatever else you said doesn't change that.

Actually no it wasnt.

Breaking rules and getting caught means you get punished. Taking draft picks or suspending a coach is totally on the table.

When the Saints were going after players, they didnt get fined and suspended because it was an unfair advantage, its because its just bad publicity and behavior.

Aaron Rodgers just came on the radio and said underinflating the balls would be a disadvantage not an advantage.

Others disagree.

So advantage thats unfair, which is cheating, is what is subjective.

I hope that clarifies your irrelevant answer.

Ok you guys act like cheating is ok. If you are beating a team 28-7 and they are intentionally trying to hurt the other team like the saints it's still damn wrong. You can't justify cheating by the fact that they won. It doesn't matter. If you ran for a job and the dude was clearly a better candidate and started lying on his resume though wouldn't you be pissed. I mean cmon. I think the pats should forfeit the superbowl and colts play. Only way to make it right.

Thats where I agree and no one is comprehending.

Behavior that is unbecoming, such as taking players out of a game, purposely deflating footballs etc. All should be punished with suspensions and forfeiture of games.

Calling something cheating though, which is subjective on deflated footballs, is just incorrect.

The outcome and penalties can be just as severe.

Although peoples bias and perceptions get in the way.

I would argue that driving a 4000 SUV recklessly through traffic like the one that could have killed me and another family this morning should carry the same penalty as shooting a .3 ounce bullet up in the air carelessly.

Many will disagree, but its because of what they hate and what they love, not reasonable thinking.

OMG like OMG a Colts player admits who was a better team, shocker. Whether or not Pats did the act of deflation will probably never be able to be proven. Colt fans just admit it, Luck fans just admit it, y'all ran into a buzzsaw. Stop with the excuses.

Advantage or disadvantage doesn't matter at all. Fielding a talented WR gives you an advantage, but it's not cheating. Only thing that matters is the rule. Advantage/disadvantage has no bearing on the situation at all.

A rule is a rule. Doesn't matter how big or small the rule is. Maybe the underinflated balls made a big difference, maybe they didn't. Fact is that the Patriots knowingly cheated by all accounts and broke a rule. You can't just let that slide on a judgment call. If you could, then Dez Bryant has a touchdown against the Packers and it's possible that the Cowboys are in the Super Bowl right now.

The punishment is very easy: Suspend Bill Belichick for the Super Bowl. No need to strip draft picks.

Who says you can't do both?

Keep this in mind: Greg Hardy was suspended with pay for 17 games all because of a pending misdemeanor charge that didn't affect the outcome of any game. You can't suspend Belichick for one game for affecting the competitive balance of an AFC Championship Game?

Why should they, did he deflare balls?

Thanks to Jarrod for pointing out the hypocrisy related to the Panthers steroid use. If we won that game, no one, myself included, would care. The NFL wants a draft pick? Sure, here you go. If the Patriots are found to have knowingly cheated, the consequence is a fine or other penalties. Those are the rules. Stripping them of the victory is ridiculous.

45-7  deflated ball didn't matter.

heard now that when the balls were taken in at half time they were inspected and all were of proper pressure from both teams....not sure if this is fact or BS though...not even sure if the balls get re-inspected at half time.

also heard that all 12 balls were light...11 of them at least 2 pounds lower than the limit.

for me...if they cheated, they cheated...the outcome of the game doesn't matter, whether or not there's an advantage or not doesn't matter....the rule is there for whatever reason it is and if the facts come out that it was deliberate...then something needs to happen.

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
