Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera has reassigned special teams coordinator Richard Rodgers after the Panthers' special teams finished at or near the bottom in a number of major special teams categories this past season, a league source said Tuesday.

According to the source, Rivera will promote Rodgers' assistant, Bruce DeHaven, who came to Carolina in 2013 with 26 years of NFL coaching experience. It's unclear what Rodgers' new position will be.

Good for Rivera for making change but I still feel he was much too soft with his old friend.  Same with Shula (but that's a whole different situation).

    • It depends on what version of bad we are getting. Can't have the locker room tearing apart over it.
    • I think that depends more on how high our pick is. If we have the 1st, 2nd or even 3rd pick i think we are drafting a QB rather than shopping FA market for a QB1. Curious if we’d be reluctant to start a rookie QB week 1 though.
    • Hurney 2.0 and Fitts were so bad I don't know if it was intentional or they were that abysmally clueless. Fittershits panicked repeatedly being on the back end of positional runs while Hurney couldn't evaluate anyone outside of the 1st.  I can't figure out why Plummer still has a jersey. There's no reason. Dalton brings nothing to the table. If another QB gets cut that has given a glimmer of anything better than what we have, we should look, and that goes for every position.  I cant get over how much different this team could have been with a competent GM and having accepted the Rams offer for Burns. This franchise could have gone in a totally different direction.
