I've been holding off on looking at upcoming possible free agents. Doesn't make much sense to spend all that energy on guys that may not even be available.

March 10 can't get here fast enough.

Trying to rush thru black history month already IGo... :-) :-)......:smh

If we go for any "big-ticket FA" the ONLY possible one I could see us going for is JPP (G-man loves his pass rushers and knows what JPP can do first-hand). None of the top WRs warrant a contract that they'll demand, there's no really good FA tackles and we're not going to spend any big bucks on a safety or CB. I see it as a 5% chance we pursue JPP and no chance we even go after any of the other big money guys on the market.

For those interested in Torrey Smith, I can give you these bits and pieces--

He was offered a 5-year, $35m contract at the beginning of the season and did not take it---Then, he had a down year, FWIW.

He said he wants to return to Baltimore, but there is some sense he is going to test the waters to gauge his worth.

I think $7m per season is probably where he will be--more than that is a #1.  (Coincidentally, it is where another WR names Smith was).

No point talking about FAs that teams ain't gonna let leave. GB isn't parting with him

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Green Bay already extended Jordy Nelson and is paying him big money. Last year they drafted Devante Adams in the 2nd round as a potential 'next man up' once Cobb was due for a big deal and he played well this season. I'm not so sure the Packers invest that much money in their #2 when they just drafted a receiver last year to be his potential replacement.

Even if the Packers do let him go, which I doubt, he'd be way too expensive to be on our radar. He's the definition of "shopping at Tiffany's" this offseason. Guys like Cecil Shorts and Denarius Moore are much more likely to be in our price range.

Can't see him leaving either. The Packers are in a decent position with their cap space to bring him back, but perhaps a sticking point could be price and whether they are willing to pay it?

Apparently he wants to at least match what Decker got from the Jets ($36 million, 5yr), and they recently signed Nelson to a new deal ($39 million, 4yr). If they can get him at $7 million a year, they should bring him back. However, at $9 million (or more) they may decide to not pay that amount of money to two WRs, or they may not want to pay Cobb more than their star receiver, Jordy Nelson.

Like you, I don't think Cobb is going anywhere. Him and Nelson combine as one of the best duos in the league. I can't imagine they want to let go of a 24 year old heading into his prime years. But i suppose it wouldn't be too surprising to see one of the big name receivers hit free agency.

    • Yeah lol well the interest isn’t really about seeking stimulation.  I wanted to see how actually bad it was.  And how much of it was women setting him up to be their cash cow.  That is the stuff that leveraged the Panthers into David Tepper’s hands. It is important in that sense.     The worst that I have heard is that he got them in the car and clumsily reached across to help them with their seat belt and made contact. With his arm. That was probably his big slick move. And I can almost guarantee he wasn’t rejected every time. It is easy to picture that action bringing his head close enough to the woman’s head to where he could go in for the kiss if he thought he got the green light.    I really don’t care if JR was a horn dog. We heard all our lives up until the last few years that one of the perks of being really old is that you can flirt with the young women and it is not just tolerated but expected. So he was keeping a tradition alive at some point 😂
    • Well I rubbed some dirt on it and am still here just not optimistic about the future of the QB position. Even what I had accepted as a ceiling raised to an acceptable level turned out to be a bit of a mirage, upon rewatch of the WC game.  Good plays were there yes, but some pretty bad ones too that the good ones late in the game kind of obscured. I have to downgrade that a little.  Especially after rewatching the last 4 plays. I remember the arguments about he did his job the WRs didn’t but that was really just that last muff by Coker I think it was on our final offensive play.   To the future: I know what my level is for paying him and recommitting, but I don’t have any confidence that the team shares my high bar.    But thanks for the pep talk
