Panthers and Cam Newton in contract talks

So realistically how much could Cam be looking to bank. I think it would be hard to put a value on the guy until you see what he does with decent talent around him. Luck has had offensive talent around him since day one, so his numbers are to be expected. Wilson has had Lynch and a number 1 defense. What has Cam had except for pedestrian receivers(minus Smith), shaky offensive lines, an aging "star" running back and a coach who is still learning OTJ.

Considering cook got Cutler a 7 year deal worth 127 with 54 guaranteed....I think you look at that contract as the floor of what Cook is looking for, of course with more money though.

Realistically Cam can get 22-25m a season. 7 years 160 million, 70m guaranteed. As nuts as that sounds, I'd be willing to bet that Cook is looking for something similar for Cam.

We're going to lose him

I really doubt it.  When push comes to shove, Cam is going to get a huge contract.  Gettleman may hate it, but Cam gives us the best chance to win a superbowl.  You have to pay your Franchise QB.  Otherwise, you're back to square one.  Who wants to break in another rookie QB in a year or two?

Nope, Cam's going to stay a Panther.  It's going to be a huge number, but that's the way the NFL works.  The Panthers and Cam are going to see what Seattle and Indy do for their QBs and work from there.  This is all just dancing right now.

(Now that I say that, Cam's contract with the Panthers will be announced in 10 minutes...)

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
