Cam Newton should be paid more than Luck or Wilson

What percentage of the salary cap are you willing to devote to just two of 63+ players (Cam and Luke)?

If we're going to go back to having massive cap devoted to just a few guys and having to skimp on the rest of the roster, what was the point of firing Marty Hurney?

There is a difference between dumping money in the RB position tans the QB and MLB, arguably the two most important positions in football

Without reading the middle of this thread - and without taking the time to look it up myself, how much money does Tom Brady make. The patriots don't overpay their players generally and use the rotate out next man up philosophy. I don't hear about Brady being paid top dollar but he's the most important piece to their puzzle, much like Cam. I say use that as a measuring stick.

What game where you watching Wilson had 3 touchdowns and 0 picks while Newton threw 2 touchdowns and had 2 picks including a pick 6. Newtons passer rating was 79 and Wilsons was double that at 149. These kind of apologist comments are part of the reason Cam gets some of the criticism on this board.

You missed his point... how many times would we win when Cam throw 4 picks? The answer is we usually lose when he throws one, that how small his margin of error is while being asked to supply 80% of our offense in both the pass and run game.

I think Wilson will be way overpaid. Luck and Cam should get similar deals. While Cam has been a tremendous part of the offense here, Luck took a 2 win team and has had double figure wins each year since. Both are probably looking at $23-25m.

It was a two win team that won their division the year prior.

They had TERRIBLE QB play than season. Only needed competence and they would have been fine, but Manning back ups sucked miserably

But it's a catch 22 if he does get paid more because then he will continue to have to do more because we can't afford to bring in more help for him.

Some of these athletes should think about the payday they can get from taking less in their contract so that they can get more players around them. They potentially will win more, have more success individually, and that brings in more endorsement opportunities as well as national attention. You can only endorse a 7-9 QB for so long before you start looking at other guys with more success. Winners sell. Good players less so.

I didn't miss the point at all. Wilson threw 5 picks all season versus 20 TDs. Cam threw 18 TDs and 12 picks so clearly Wilsons stats with arguably not that many weapons other than Lynch was much better than Cam.

Of the 8 games we won last year of which 6 he played, he had interceptions In 3 of them. So the old if he throws one interception we lose is hype not reality. The bigger question that does explain things is how many games do we lose when he throws more touchdowns than he throws picks? Or when he throws multiple touchdowns and 1 or less Interceptions. Truth is that he had 1 three touchdown game all year and 9 games where he threw 1 or none. Hard to win when you don't put up many points and your running game is hurting.

The one thing a topic like this is good for....idiot identifying lol. They spew the same shortsighted ass argument again and again. What type of offense would RR and Shula run, if Cam wasn't here? You don't know. Nobody does. And do not bring up that spit and duct tape O that was run for a couple games, while we had DA in. Anyone but Tampa would have feasted on him. Cam is the offense. If he stays...you pay, period.

Because that money will be tied up in positions that matter, and not in multiple running backs.
