think I'd rather have Sandra Bullock on the Titans line than

Michael Oher at this point.

Michael Oher literally mastered the art of the false start.....and

getting beat by edge rushers on a consistent basis

you want people banned because they don't praise shitty players? HAHAHAHAHA

nope, you dont have to agree with a signing.  But people dont have to trash a guy that hasnt played a down for carolina yet.  he has a history of injury but seems to be resolved now.  give him a chance to prove it.  Everyone likes to criticize the panthers FO from their couches.  If you can do better, go apply for a job with the panthers.  Also its not like their is a crazy amount of all pro LT's carolina can afford on the market right now.  it remains to be seen if Oher is for depth, will be RT or LT.  Let the offseason play out first.

This signing is at best meh.

Oher is simply not a good OT. He has been terrible the past couple of seasons.

Right now you should only expect him to he vet depth with the POTENTIAL to be a decent stop gap.

It comes down to the money. Two years at 8 mil seems too much for a guy that has played as poorly as Oher has.

The terms of the deal haven't been released yet.

There's a big difference between not viewing a move through homer goggles and scouring the internet far and wide to make dozens of posts about how horrible Oher is.

Last year everyone - including myself - bitched about Gettleman not addressing OT. Now he signs one and everyone still bitches. The FA OT market sucks. It's not like Jon Ogden and Orlando Pace in their prime are out there begging to play for the Panthers for vet min. Bulaga is the only proven quality starter on the market and he's probably gonna get paid like he's a future HOFer due to that.

I'm honestly not sure what some of y'all expected.

It seems a lot of people were thinking some of the potential RTs in the FA would be looked at like Barksdale or Newton.

Looks like it came down to wanting a swing lineman to compete with Chandler and if Oher is back to form, maybe for the LT spot.  Considering his play the last 2 seasons, it may be a pretty darn cheap contract and we just wanted to scoop up an inexpensive yet experienced RT/LT as depth.

Best case: stop gap starter

Worst case: doesn't make it through camp

What I'm confident about: DG did not by any means give this dude a lot of cash.

If I worked this hard to be so negative about sports, I'd just quit watching.

you're thinking too negative. Look at it like this: the other day my friends wanted to see Jupiter Rising. I checked some reviews and the reviews all said the movie sucked and was a total bomb. However, i decided to go anyway because it's nice going to a movie when i think it's going to suck, because I'm never going to be displeased. On the other hand, i hate when i think a movie is going to be great, because it sucks when it isn't (like what happened to me for "I Robot")

Same with Oher. If you think he's going to suck, you won't be displeased with him as a Panther. If you think he's going to be great, you're setting yourself up to be displeased with him as a Panther

He has a history of being a terrible Offensive Tackle too but when that's brought up it's disregarded.

I don't understand the hate either.

Nobody is disputing the dude has had several bad seasons.

Talent wise, he's the best tackle we've had since Otah.

He's healthy, and has back with his best oline coach.

Seriously, that's a lot to like.

Not expecting him to be an all pro.

he doesn't have to be, for this to be a success.

Seriously.

But lets continue to bash the dude.

And can we come 7p with better excuses to bash him other than a movie had been made of his very successful college career?

Exactly! Dave has nothing to lose with this signing. Pairing him with Matsko again may be what the doctor ordered. We know he has talent, just needs to get out of his mental funk. Possible if he is brought in with patient coaches, he may get it again.

If the movie held any truth, he is a gentle giant capable of being one of the best in the game. He was portrayed as a sensitive soul that tethered with esteem issues. If this is true, he will have issues handling the pressure of being counted on as the savior.....Ron and Matsko just gotta make it fun for him again

Rick Wagner is NFL’s top-rated RT by PFF. Michael Oher is the

NFL’s lowest-rated RT. Letting Oher walk = smart decision.

Ravens right tackle Rick Wagner has thrived in Michael Oher 's

old position

Umm yeah, I think the #Ravens made the right decision letting

Michael Oher walk and trusting Rick Wagner. STORY:

Our OT depth is non-existent so this should help but I don't think the FO is marking LT off the needs list just yet. Oher is only going to be a backup and competition for Remmers at RT.

Exactly.  People need to think this more of a Chandler upgrade than Bell.  We're still looking for an LT.

    • I appreciate the honesty in your posts--I am not sure Canales is rusing(?) because I don't think we are good enough yet to draft players for depth on day 1.  I do think we are in limbo, fwiw.  At 19, I think you are drafting second rounders in the first.
    • We are in a unique situation here. Just my opinion. Three things: Moton’s playing health has been gradually declining as he is aging, while his contract is a drag on the payroll.  Something will give with him sooner than later but I think 2026 could be it.  So.. need a right tackle by 2027. At the latest.    Icky’s individual situation is unique as well. They would have had an extension done by now if not for the injury. We only have him for this year. With no assurance he will ever be the same player.  It would be reckless just to assume. Now we have Walker for one year. And that is a major relief. Maybe he is the answer, but the team that knows him best let him go and it was cheap for us to sign him. So how much did they value him?    We look to be needing two tackles by 2027.  And have poo for depth this year as well. So anyway we could draft a guy for 2027 RT and groom him this year, and see how Icky does, and act as needed in 2027. Spread out filling the two holes over 2 years.    Then I remember, hey if Bryce doesn’t get a Lot more consistent do they extend him? Hoping not, if he isn’t really good.    So then we are looking at the 2027 draft which people say is gonna be loaded with QBs. If we need a LT and a QB what is the pick gonna get spent on?   Taking into account the recovery success rates cited here on the Icky surgery, you might want to plan for him to not be the same player. rather than assume he will be and get caught with your pants down.  It is a tough situation.    And factor in that it is critically important to protect this QB, always, but especially this year where it is said to be make or break. And how you might feel about that.    All of it points to a real possibility that these things converge in the negative, like Bruce sucks and Icky is not the same. In that case if you want to be assured of getting LT secured, the only place you can do that through the draft could be very well be 2026 1st round.     For me, I would like to err on the side of caution.  Cover for these outcomes. It wouldn’t be fun. Added benefit is if we do have a tackle go down this year we will have a guy there. Because I don’t know what we have now.
    • I agree. In a perfect world I wouldn’t want to draft another WR, but in this draft it’s fine based on the value of who will be there at #19.  All of the top tier guys worth pick #19 at other positions of need will be long gone. Only exception is Dillon Thieneman, but he’s almost a shoe in for the Vikings as the Harrison Smith replacement. Some posters on here want to draft an OT just to check a box without realizing the concerns and risk that comes along with said player. Sounds like XL to me… desperately drafting need… KC is a pretty safe player.  Produced all 3 years in college and last year in the SEC vs a lot of top corners in this years draft. He single handily dropped the South Carolina CB Brandon Cisse’s draft stock with how bad he abused him.   Sometimes it’s best to try and hit a double instead of going for the home run. This draft screams “go for the double”. Esp in the first.
