NFL.com: "Saints following the 2014 Cowboys blueprint that catapulted Tony Romo into the MVP race"

Drew Brees is 36, I think he'll be effective (still trending down) for the next 2 seasons. Their little experiment of cleaning house and building through the draft won't be able to overlap with Drews success.

Maybe if they did this 2 seasons ago, but now? LOLOLOLOL

Also, here is a rundown on how successful the saints have been with picks in the top 78 in the loomis/peyton era.

2006 1st rd #2 Reggie Bush - he doesnt completely suck but taking a 3rd down back at #2 overall when there were 9 pro bowlers selected in the next 30 picks is pretty awful

2006 2nd rd #42 Roman Harper - good pick for where he was

2007 1st round #27 Robert Meachem - was a #3 receiver at his peak.

2007 3rd round #66 Usama Young - bust, started 6 games in 4 seasons in NO

2008 1st round #7 Sedrick Ellis - BUST.

2008 2nd round #40 Tracy Porter - average player known for one great play

2009 1st round #14 Malcolm Jenkins- did OK when he left swamptown. Always get the LOLs when i watch him whiff on cam on the now infamous hixon TD. Bust!

2010 1st round #32 Patrick Robinson - B U S T. He could give up hundred yard games to bersin and naanee.

2010 2nd round #64 Charles Brown - Another bust, would be behind byron bell on any depth chart

2011 1st round #24 Cameron Jordan - Stud, easily best pick on this list

2011 1st round #28 Mark Ingram - had one good year and required a trade up to get him. Not a bust, but demarco murray went 2 rounds later

2011 3rd round #72 Martez Wilson - started one game in 3 seasons, bust

2013 1st round #15 Kenny Vacarro - decent rookie year, but got benched last year. Trending toward a bust.

2013 3rd round #72 Terron Armstread - despite greg hardy undressing him in 2013, has been decent

2014 1st round #20 Brandin Cooks - showed a lot of potential, but thanks for letting us get kelvin instead

2014 2nd round #58 Stanley Jean-Baptiste - despite an utterly shitty secondary he couldnt manage to see the field. I cant decide my favorite part, the fact that we got bene three rounds later or the fact that alice was comparing him to richard sherman

I dont think i can sleep at night knowing that the saints hold so many high draft picks in this draft

Did you watch Cam Jordan last year? A stud he was not.

    • fans view “box safety” with the same disdain they have when they hear “game manager” QB.   but there’s a reason most 1st round safeties are “box safeties”-it’s a much longer list of requisite skills to be a good box safety than it is to be a guy whose only real responsibility is to not get beat over the top. Fans crave the ed reed type and as someone who has never been able to enjoy this franchise having a guy like that, I get the enthusiasm-but I’m not really prepared to spend a first round pick on a free safety. If it happens it’ll be fun, it’ll address a need with a good player and that’s well and good. But those guys end up walking after their first contract because their pedigree usually outpaces what their teams feel like they’re adding to their overall win total.
    • Its criminal that the upcoming season is mainly in the tiny hands of BY.  I still member the time I did a full turn, if you member his first off-season from that Panthers all-time worst team....... Answering questions at his first presser, he goes along the lines " I didn't do nothing, no weight room or throwing" " I needed to get away". I was fully out with him, the guy didn't even try to improve his football mind, body, strength, in the biggest joke of panther football. I could not believe it, what a leader or dare say "point guard"(lols @ NBA point guards as a ref)
    • I view FS almost as the NT of the secondary. Oftentimes the true measure of his impact isn't necessarily in the plays that he makes but what he allows you to do with the rest of your defense to allow them to make plays. When you have that elite true sideline to sideline FS safety blanket over the top of the defense it allows you to be a lot more aggressive with everyone else. Where as when you have a Nick Scott as your last line of defense you gotta be mindful to not have to rely too heavily on that.
