Greg Hardy to the Cowboys

Recommended Posts

I love how the NFL media suddenly doesn't care whatsoever about Hardy's trial. As Igo pointed out on Twitter, the same ones just killing him and the Panthers last year are suddenly and mysteriously acting like it was all overblown now that he's a Cowboy.

we should become the new Raiders and just accept heeldom, especially since many members of the NFL fandom seem to still think Cam is a thug for what the hell ever reason.

Right. There was no penalty for being over it all year. Just had to be under it when the clock struck midnight (or whatever). That makes for many options I hadn't thought of before. Obviously the player has to agree to as I said in the other post.

EDIT: Sorry I'll stop talking about this. Just blew my mind when ti dawned on me you could manipulate the cap in this particular way.

Teams can't go over the cap during the year - NO wasn't actually over the 2014 cap.  All of their contracts were over the 2015 as written, and if they hadn't done what they did they would have immediately been over once the 2015 cap once the new year began, just like any other team. Going over results in signfiicant fines and cap penalties, kind of like what Dallas and Washington were hit with following 2010 (although that was for a slightly different reason).  Link: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/7677375/sources-dallas-cowboys-washington-redskins-lose-millions-cap-space

Becasue Hardy was only active for two games last year, I believe that only his first 2 game bonuses fall into the 'likely to be earned' category.  Bonuses in this category must be accounted for in the cap calculation, but bonuses that count as 'not likely to be earned' do not count against a yearly cap until reconciliation at the end of the year.  The Cowboys may have a significant cap mess to deal with (and another poster mentioned moves they could make to fix it), but they won't be penalized because of the bonus classification.  Savvy contract structure.

Well good luck Kraken, & keep your dick out of crazy.

Crazy ones are fun, but if you're not bringing her home to Mom, then you need to pay them to leave in the morning. Or else lines get blurred and crazy turns to psycho real quick. A couple hundred per night is wayyyyy cheaper than a couple million in hush money.

Now you know, And knowing is half the battle.
