Panthers talk to Greg Jennings

So it looks like its down to panthers, dolphins, jags or packers. That's the ones I have heard of so far.

Possibly Ravens as well.

Harbaugh also noted that Baltimore could add a veteran who is released, like Jennings, which is more in line with their history in free agency. They may patiently wait for those future moves.

It has probably been stated in 24 pages and I am not reading it all to see, but I do not want him here--mixed emotions on it--but here is how I see it---he didn't have many more yards that Cotchery last year.  He would be more expensive and we would probably have to cut Cotchery.  It would lower our need for a WR, and he is not giving us an explosive deep option (I am tired of hearing that we addressed that issue from RR when we signed Ginn).

I want them to quit trying to fill the #2 WR role with shadow puppets.  Lets put a real, genuine threat there.  The draft has many, and I dont care if it is another rookie--last year we played 2 rookies.

I like the 2 prone attack approach. . Sign a veteran and draft a rookie. . That way you have a ready made option on the roster and a rookie who can develop into or be the option from day 1..

If we sign Jennings we can get a WR in rounds 2 thru 4 that we can develop which I like.. If not we really have to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick on a WR..

Jennings IS a real, genuine threat. Would be our best WR2 since Moose by a longshot. We wouldn't have to cut Cotch, and judging by his interest, he won't be expensive. As for Ginn, he may not be super explosive like a Torrey Smith or DeSean Jackson, but he is a capable field stretcher and #3. With Jennings our WR group would be a strength,

Really cotchery is garbage. I'm tired of people saying we can get by with him. He cost us two games last year. And in the game against seahawks in the playoffs he could not catch a wide open 3 yd catch that would have gave us a first down to keep the drive going. Please Jennings is a major upgrade compared to him. Plus Jennings since he had been with the vikings had ponder, Cassel and Bridgewater. Enough said!

I think, if we get a good OL, Running game, and Cam steps up as many think he will under those circumstances, you could be right.  I am leary of a WR who was good in a great passing system with only hall of famers throwing to him, and when he leaves that system, he struggles a bit.  I said I was torn--I am just questioning the fit.  Your post makes me feel better about it, but I am still on the fence at best.

I didn't follow Jennings' years with the Vikings until I found out we were interested in him, and I initially thought he had struggled there as well. But then I did some research and went back and watched some of the tape, and he was easily as good as he was with the Pack and was even a borderline #1. He was their #1 the past two years and really the only threat on offense other than Peterson (who didn't play last year), drawing double coverage a lot. There was a breakdown posted somewhere of how he was literally open on like 90% of plays and Ponder just didn't see him (in 2013, if I find the link I'll post it). On paper he looks disappointing, and I don't think he was worth what the Vikings paid him, but he definitely still has a lot left and could even be a top WR2 in the league. The stats are more due to his QB's play than his own, I believe. He would compliment Benji perfectly. I still think we'll draft a WR because we know Ginn and possibly Jennings aren't longterm fixes, but signing Jennings would fill that need at WR2 and allow us to purely focus on BPA in the first couple of rounds so that we can either fill other holes or make our strengths stronger. The Jennings signing would be absolutely huge for us in my opinion.
