Collins is a 1st R safety as a run stopper but not a 1st R safety in coverage. Plenty of mocks have him falling to us.I have a whole thread on it on the draft board

Bet sigs/avatar that he's either not there when we pick or that we take him?

Other than the runningbacks, this seems like one of the most debated prospects on this board.

So a question to the pro and anti Collins posters: Why should I support, or not support, taking him?

Has all the intangibles to excel in coverage if coached up, is already an amazing box safety which is exactly what fits Rivera's scheme perfectly, is a ball hawk and makes plays, and well, he isn't Roman Harper.

Gotcha.

What's your response to the folks saying Alabama DBs are overrated?

He's pretty big (stocky and muscular) for a safety and is pretty fast as well. Ran a 4.53 at the combine. Great closing speed and can throw a big hit. He has experience playing deep or in the box. His coverage skills are his weak spot but he has the athletic ability to improve there. He'd be a great fit here at SS in my opinion.

So, Marlon McCree type?

I don't respond to people who generalize by school or program. Great players can come from any school.

Fair enough, but it is legit that many of the DBs drafted from that program (Barron, for example) haven't proven to be good in the pros.

What makes Collins different?

    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
