Thomas Davis thinks this team is already better than last years

And I agree with him. We lost no one of note while getting Ginn back, adding a savvy veteran CB, greatly upgrading special teams, and even though Oher and Martin aren't future HOFers they're better than Bell and Faucoult.

nah, it would have been an opportunity for the national media to take what he said and spin it into a story, since its slow.

Cam is smart. The media hype machine is out of control.

thats my .02

Your .02 makes Cam sound dumb, and that's not cool. Obviously, if Cam was smart at all, he'd be able to give interviews without saying or doing anything dumb. And Cam is fully capable of that. Here's the heavily-respected New York Times starting off an article on why Greg Cosell is so respected by giving a whole story of how Cosell said Cam is smart when it comes to press conferences:

“Newton did exactly what he needed to do: say nothing, really well.”

http://mobile.nytimes.com/blogs/fifthdown/2011/07/13/greg-cosell-unheralded-maestro-of-n-f-l-matchup/

(good read on Cam, click it)

Cam not talking today had nothing to do with him being too dumb to talk to the press. He probably wasn't feeling well, had more important matters to attend to (still in meeting with Gettleman about his on-going contact dispute?, showing a young fan with cancer around the facility?), etc, etc

Cam probably just didn't feel like answering 50 questions about his contract which is a decision I can't really blame him for because other than a question about him graduating, how it feels to have Ted Ginn back and maybe how much better it is to be healthy this offseason would be about the only thing he'd be asked.

Cam doesnt like talking to the media. that is a fact.

and it is also a fact that the media will take something he says and completely twist the meaning around. you know this

im not saying this is the concrete reason why he didn't talk.. i dont know whats in his head. I do know he wont talk unless hes required

    • I think what's been useful about PFF rankings on a weekly basis is to see how certain members of the defensive backfield perform according to them. I find it hard to judge Nick Scott and some of the others the last few weeks, though he's had some plays, so these scores are helpful there. Though when Derrick Brown doesn't show up at all it's a head scratcher.  I know week to week is irrelevant but he had a monster game by most accounts.
    • Agreed the odds are stacked against us and I doubt we win it but you never know. I just know it's nice to be able to even have this conversation again.
