Mayock's Final Mock has been completed. At #25, the Panthers select:

Gettleman is not going to take a 'needs work' player in the first.  Take it to the bank.  He wants someone who can start immediately.

Mayock's selection indicated he knew little about our current General Manager.

Could Gettleman take, the tackle, of course its possible.  Will he, highly unlikely, low probability of that happenng.

High probability he takes Peat, Humphries, or Fisher.

He's an interesting pick, but unless your team has ZERO holes, and abundance of talent along the Oline so that Clemmons could learn the tackle position, you don't blow a first round pick on a project.  Now if he's sitting there in the 3rd round, why the heck not.  That's a good risk/reward at that point (In my complete layman's opinion!).

Gettleman is going to pick someone who will make an impact.  I could see a quality DL, one of the other OTs (Even the A&M guy if they think he'll be ready to go for TC), or anyone else who can come in and be a quality contributor.

There's a reason these guys work in the entertainment part of the sport and not the decision making part of the sport.

This is why these guys are mocking for networks, and not drafting for NFL teams. We haven't drafted what they mocked in a few years if memory serves. I could see, WR, DE, or HB before a T at #25. If I were placing my eggs in the basket we'll be looking at a 2nd or 3rd round T.

Im sorry im big on names, if you have a lame name then chances are your going to suck. DJ Humphries, TJ Clemmings, their names are just meh to me. Cedric Obiwan, Jake Fisher and Ereck Flowers are the only three tackles I would consider drafting based on NFL sounding names out of all the tackles, Jake Fisher is my favorite.

Jake Fisher, that name just screams pro bowl potential, Cedric Obiwan is right up there with him. When it comes to WRs none of the names really stick out. I love Jaelen Strong. Nelson Agolohor and Breshad Perriman have JAGs written all over them, Amari Cooper has superstar potential, Devin Smith could be special. My favorite WR name is Devante Parker, that name has stud written all over it.

Other names I like.. Shaq Thompson, Eddie Goldman, Owambe Odigizuha, Dorial Green-Beckham, Jai Ajai (i think thats his name) those are just a few of the guys I feel have pro bowl potential based on their names.. Think about it.. "OMG! TJ Clemmings just pancaked that guy!" Umm yea, not feeling it! Now say "Woow, Jake Fisher just owned his ass!" See what im talking about? Im telling you, names say a lot about a player

I have to be joking right?! RIGHT?! I dont know, you decide.

as for names, two of my favorite for the OTs are:

Big Rob Havenstein (OT, Wisconsin)

Cameron Clear (OT, Texas A&M)

I'm neutral on the name "Clemmings," but the name "Humphries" sounds funny. In my head, I've been calling him "The Hump-Meister" ("-meister" is a combining form denoting a person regarded as skilled or prominent in a specified area of activity.)

Also one thing cool about funny names is you get comments like: "funny name, but serious bidness on the football field"

Cameron Clear is a solid name. Names matter as silly as it sounds. My favorite name in the 1st round?! Devante Parker

of the upper-1st R guys, my favorite name is "Vic Beasley." Worst is "Todd Gurley."

Oh yea, I forgot about Vic Beasley, solid name. Last year Odell Beckham by far had the best name, coincidence he was best player in that draft?! I think not. Oh now to think of it, Sammie Coates is a very very good name also, I totally forgot about him until I just thought of Sammie Watkins (also a great name) Hmm I think Sammie Coates just might be my favorite WR name now that I remembered him. Now that has the sound of a pro bowl WR.

    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes I to account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as a treading water year. I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked.
    • What happened to King? Was he a no show?
    • think these smaller Qb's are going to have a much harder time convincing an NFL team to draft them. not saying a smaller Qb under 6 feet tall will not make an NFL roster .it will most likely be a UDFA contract more or less prove it deal.NFL teams have been burnt time & time again investing in these small NFL Qbs & i think  teams are now finally starting to realize that investing in these smaller Qb's under 6 feet tall is simply a bad idea  ...just saying
