Trade Rumor: Bruce Irvin to the Falcons

Mr. Scot

The fair and reasonable value for both teams would be straight up for the falcons 2nd. Which, yet again, like the Graham trade, would weaken both teams IMHO. Irvin would only have one the one year extension on his deal and the hawks lose a key piece to a suddenly very average or below looking front 7.

If they aren't doing the 5th year option, and Irvin wants to be with Quinn, why not just wait until he's a FA to sign him rather than give up a nice pick for him?

They would have to wait until next year and if they do trade Atlanta can pick up the 5th year option.

He's their missing piece. Makes sense. They're only a pass-rusher away from winning it all.

Crappy O-Line and worse RBs? Wave the magical Zone Blocking Scheme wand and voila! At least 8 td every game with that offense!

Worst defense last year? Quinn can take slapdick leftover players and very average free agents and make a top 10 defense. Carroll and Bradley had nothing to do with Seattle's defense. That was all Quinn. Add Irvin in a trade and BAM! Instant #1 defense evah

Besides, with their track record of crappy drafting, their best move is to trade the picks away.

But is he a every down DE?  Even in College he played sparingly.   He is almost like Hardy all the way around.  He will sooner or later screw up.

He'll play the "LEO" position. It's a dedicated pass-rusher that hopes to be a speed bump on run plays. If he screws up in Atlanta, is that a good or bad thing for us?

Irvin actually played traditional SAM for Seattle then on 3rd downs Michael Bennett would kick inside, Irvin would go to DE and they sub out a DT for a CB. He could work as the LEO but Quinn may want to use him in the role he is most familiar with.

    • First of all the out was not caught because XL slipped and was the only person who could have caught that ball.  I'm not sure where you get that it was almost intercepted but go ahead and believe your story. The kick was in the direction we wanted the ball from the opening kickoff.  Do you think Fitzpatrick didn't try several kicks in that direction before the game and after half?  Do you think we just winged it.  Come on, OK so he missed one earlier.  Kickers can't adjust.  You make it sound like it was a wing and a pray. I saw the game.  Yes and we still got 21 yard from the running game.  We also got two first downs via that pass.  So it isn't like it was 100% we were going to run.   You have your blinders on and hate BY so much that you can't give him any credit because it defeats your narrative that he completely sucks.   What I have yet to here is you 100% for sure solution.  Which QB are you going to bring in that GUARANTEES that he'll be better than BY.  See the difference between you and me is I understand that he isn't the greatest QB to play the game.   But he has strengths and he continues to win whether you like it or not.  You and I have been on this forum for many years and agreed and disagreed on many topics.  I don't think I have ever seen you so filled with so much hatred for a player than BY.   I'm just going to leave it here to agree to disagree because you aren't going to change my outlook and I definitely am not going to change yours.  I do appreciate no personal attacks.  Someone said it earlier.  Ride with our game manager until a Mahomes falls into our laps.
    • It's not the only issue. She said it was the "biggest" issue. lol
    • The key difference being expectation. Jake was basically an afterthought of a free agent signing. Bryce is a guy we mortgaged the franchise on to be THE GUY. Not to mention a different era of football before all the rule changes to benefit the passing game. I don't care how we win either. I just realize that the odds of continuing to win in today's NFL with this level of QB play are very low. If I knew for sure that the Panthers had already decided to pursue other options at QB this off-season I could breathe a sigh of relief but of course they're not going to say that publicly.
