CBS' Prisco hates the pick & SB Nation's Kadar, lukewarm

top dawg

Oh, and I find it hiarious to see that just because Prisco doesn't comprehend what position Thompson is going to play, he seems to think former Pro Bowl LB Ron Rivera and top-notch DC Sean McDermott will also have that same problem.

At the beginning of the draft process Shaq was a locked first round pick. He dropped because of his 40 time (he did great in other drills) and because people claim he's undersized. He's not undersized. The 40 time is overblown. He's still first round talent.

He ran a slow 40 on purpose anyways ;)

You want me to take your words for it or the scouts? The scouts may not always be right but in the middle or even beginning of every college season they normally mock who will be high draft picks. I don't think you can claim that as well.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. My point is that it's not impossible that a WR or OT is there for us at the end of a round. Last year we drafted KB at the end of a round. You never know who will fall.

25. Shaq Thompson, LB/S, Washington: C+ Grade

I had Shaq Thompson to the Panthers - in the second round. I only had him falliing that far because it was apparent that they really liked him. In fact, I slotted Thompson to the Panthers at No. 25 a few weeks ago, but ultimately thought that was a bit too early for him. The teams we spoke to agreed, as they had him as a second-round prospect. Having said that, this is a fine pick, as Thompson's versatility will definitely help Carolina's defense. He'll be able to play both safety and linebacker, depending on the situation.

Amazing how an amateur site picks up on why Thompson was drafted instantly, whereas "expert analysts" like Prisco are puzzled.

My question is, what the actual fug do these "legit" analysts, that everyone likes to bring up, know about what the hell is best for us?  Quit smoking analyst pole.  If they knew jack poo, they'd be doing something that was actually helpful besides spewing bullshit.  Please tell me when they've been right about any player we've picked since DG got here.

I doubt he would have made it to 57.  Was it a reach?  Yes.  Was it drafting in a position of need?  No.

Will Panthers fans be happy we got him once he is on the field and heaven forbid something happen to davis?  Yes

IDC what they say.  I would almost rather the experts hate the picks.  You read Seahawks and our division rivals fans reactions to Shaq being a Panther.....tells me all I need to know.

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
