La'El Collins may be in play after all

All I know is with the addition of Darryl Williams, Kalil still beasting and Turner and Norwell being studs. If you add a guy like Collins to solidify your left side with Oher and Martin as depth, this O line could be on Cowboys level elite in terms of O line. Add in a O line like that with weapons like KB/Funchess/Cam/Olsen and with our top 10 D.

I would literally put a chunk of change down on a super bowl victory, especially combine all that with our cake schedule

you still have to factor in coaching.

Here is my question. Let's say he's signed as a UDFA, is it possible to sign him then immediately "extend" him for 2 years for his contact length to be 5 years to give him a some semblance of a real first round contract?

Why would he want that?

He will play his 3 years at max payout (which is peanuts) and then hope for a longer, bigger payday for his efforts.

Could give him guaranteed money upfront which is a huge factor. Not sure if it's allowed though.

Considering the bust rate in the NFL lately for first Round OT's, guaranteed contract is important.

He's going to get the guaranteed max, regardless of which team he goes to.

As far as the bust rate, it's a gamble he's going to have to make but I would certainly bank on him taking the gamble as the cost is greatly outweighed by the reward.

Stupid? It was in his best interest.

How much more money, including escalators, could he have made if some team drafted him?

(there's no way to be certain someone wouldn't have on day three)

Plus if he's taken now and - God forbid - gets hurt, what does he fall back on?

It was not a good strategy.

Yeah, his agent should have kept his mouth shut. He probably would have gotten drafted on day 3.

Then you announce your intent to sit out and reenter next year's draft.

After which you find out you actually can't go into next year's draft, which makes you look like a dumbass.

    • Yeah I think he's just talking continuity it's not really an endorsement. Also I would think CarolinaHuddle of all places would understand using "we" for the team you follow. I can't STAND when dorks do the "Oh so you play for them then? Hurr hurr"
    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
