Which UDFA will make the final 53?

Recommended Posts

We all know that Dave Gettleman is a master draft guru, he's been for the past years. In three years, he's built a perennial playoff contender. With his drafting and then undrafted free agent acquisitions. Most recent he found depth for the offensive line with Andrew Norwell. What's that? That's just one guy? That may be true, but it also is true that he fell through the cracks and no team picked him up. He started several games and was the best tackle we've had since the departure of Gross. Albeit he plays on the right side. Finding starters and not using draft picks is a blessing.

Corey "philly" Brown is another addition that was huge for this team on the offensive side. A speed receiver that helped the sometimes stagnant offense get a spark. His punt returning is a work in progress but he's best suited for the slot. His talents will be used accordingly and he was also a UDFA.

Carrynton Byndom Another serviceable corner. He didn't get much playing time but at his size, 6' 190, he may get more looks. If anything he's a quality depth player.

David Foucoult, the huge French Canadian. He's definitely a project, the potential is there, only time will tell if he will make the roster this year.

The point is, Gettleman has a knack for finding these players, he has changed the culture of this football team and redefined the word value.

Here are this years undrafted Gems.

Making an educated Guess. There's potential in 4 players in my humble opinion.

Garry Peters, Darrious Cummings, Brian Blechen and Damiere Byrd.

Peters has the most potential to stick to the roster. The current CB corp could use his services.

Darrious Cummings could make a name for himself and stamp a ticket in the final 53 if one of our DT's goes down. Cole and Edwards are both at the twilight of their careers. Need some replacements.

Damiere Byrd is a speedster, this team may be intrugued by that and give him shot. This team still needs speed, besides Ginn and Brown.

Brian Blechen, this guy hits without remorse. I can see him being in the second string. He's very instinctive as well. One of Daves favorite traits to be found in the linebacking corp.

Who would be your UDFA's that may make the final roster?

I'd say Peters has the best chance of the bunch.

Agreed.

Although I don't know if I'm agreeing solely because finding a quality young CB via UDFA would be awesome (on the field and financially) or because I really think he'll make the squad.  Either way, I'm rolling with him.

I could see Byrd, Cummings, Miley, Miller and Redden making the practice squad. I really think Wegher has a shot of making the team, especially if we keep 4 RB. I really think Fozzy is a lock to make the team. Artis-Payne should have no problem making the team but I see Wegher giving him some competition. Todman is a special teams guy and that could be the only reason why he beats out Wegher but because Wegher has 4.40 speed I could see Todman being cut. Reaves probably has the lowest chance of making the team as a RB and will probably be cut and won't make the practice squad.

Gary Peters has a shot of making the team due to the depth we have at CB but I could see Byndom beating him out.

I have three, just like the two years before.

Every ones picking garry peters, with good reason. I except the panthers to carry 10 +/- DBs, so just beating out #10 isnt that tall of a mountain.

Arthur miley has everything you want in a UDFA. One injury happens on the DL, he should replace the player. They could even carry 10 here too, depends on other spots.

My dark horse is brandon wegher, I dont see much of difference between him and payne the 5th rounder.

    • XL out in Min trying to get better.  These guys working hard to win!!! https://sports.yahoo.com/article/watch-bryce-young-unleashes-dimes-184519544.html
    • Another layer to that is Ive seen Seattle has been in the market for CB help this off-season.   Michael had a higher PFF grade than Horn who got 15 games this season. He wants to be here too, that's a huge bonus for any 5 win team that had awful pass rush.  The 7th rounder Michael Barrett didn't last long on Seattle, he was cut before the season I think and ended up on browns PS. He's already been on 5.......5 teams within one year.......
    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
