Brady vs the NFL: The Case that Might Knock the Football from Being the Number One Sport?

Many of us believe football will be the number one sport in America for a long time, if not for the rest of America's existence.  Yet there is probably nothing that can knock a number one sport from their top seat more, than a cheating scandal.  Especially if the accused cheaters are one of the most successful teams in the league if not most successful.

All sports media and regular news media have picked up this story, and I'm wondering will fans get tired of hearing about it.  People hate Roger Goodell, and if he were to lose this fight, any respect he still has will probably go flying out the window.  Of course I bring this topic up due to hearing some fans say they might stop watching the NFL due to what is going on right now.  Normally I don't pay that kind of talk much attention, because that is all it usually is.  Even if they are sincere, and some are, they are among the very few.  However, a whole lot of drama and scandal has transpired over the course of a year's time.  Stuff like that could have an effect when it's piled on top of each other.  If I were the NBA, MLB, or even the MLS, I have to see this as my opportunity to win people over to my sport.

The domestic violence I can at least see a potential for causing an issue but still not really. A few pounds of pressure in the ball will have zero effect come opening day considering the things baseball players have done over the years.

One day the Cunulativr effect if over hyping everything about the NFL will have an effect but I don't see it happening soon.

The league is definitely going to suffer the effect of a bubble burst at some point but at the moment these drama issues are just driving it to inflate more.

I think if it passes really quick, then yeah.  Yet I would find it interesting if it goes to court and is drawn out.  Trump is saying Brady should sue them for 250 million heehee.  I would like to see if other sport leagues can take advantage of all the turmoil currently surrounding the NFL.

I actually don't care about all the scandals, we see NFL players being murders all the time but we still watch it, we see NFL players got arrested but we can't stop watching. Those things don't change this sport.

I care more about changing rules of football to make it a "soft" sport actually.

I really don't pay much attention to games where the Panthers aren't playing unless it's the playoffs. If something were to happen to the Panthers,(say a move to another city,) the game of professional football would be dead to me until the playoffs come around.

I used to like baseball, but the steroid era ruined that for me and I don't even really watch any games, including the playoffs, same with the NBA. I could really care less.

College athletics are quickly becoming more prominent then their professional counterparts.

That's something that might get on my nerves as well, when they alter rules.  Yet I believe if the scandal is big enough, people might begin to say the NFL is rigged in some ways.  I think what really makes the NFL unique is that there is parity.  Every team has a chance to actually win a championship, or at least that is the feeling.  In the NBA, only certain teams have a chance at winning, and the MLB have too many games and they are boring to watch at times.

    • Bryce Young has been a tale of two QBs. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. To use stats and film prior to returning from being benched is a little disingenuous. Completely different players. Like a new BY returned. You could actually see him trying something new every week, that he was afraid to do before - and being successful at it.  If he picks up this season where he left off, we'll have our franchise QB. And yes he was proficient against pressure. And yes he could throw the deep ball efficiently - with a couple of drops that NFL WRs shouldn't make.  If he reverts back to the unsure and conservative Bryce from the first two games and most of his rookie season, then we'll be drafting a QB in the first round in 2026. No one knows which we'll get yet. Not even Bryce. My advice would be to stay aggressive going down field. The FO appears to be bringing in receivers that can win the 50/50 ball. That opens up routes underneath. Teams stop blitzing as much and keep a safety over the top. Now what if they had to keep two? It's a lot tougher to defend the middle of the field with LBs than Safeties. I get what they're doing. BY just has to play that game. I think he will. He did in college.
