David Newton: Tough cuts may be a coming at WR/RB

Funchess

Ginn

Hill

Gettleman's theory of "the answer is on the roster" in addition to his need for speed on this roster are met with this lineup. The only detractor I can find in this line up is size with Ginn and Philly being under 6ft.

I think Ginn was signed as insurance for a return man. I could see him being only a one year rental and going in another direction next year if we take another receiver in the first three or four rounds.

The 4th WR has not played more than 15% of snaps in four years of Ron Rivera. I didn't go past that, because it was Jeff Davidson, so there's no reason to look at a 4th WR. But, from memory, the last player to start the season as a 4th WR and contribute heavily? Keary Colbert, who wasn't active when Steve Smith wasn't on IR.

This isn't how teams work. You have to play a role here. Ted Ginn returns punts, we all assume Funchess is the other starter. A player will step up that might be better than Ginn as a 3rd WR, and that seems reasonable. That player will also get a jersey.

These are the only thing that matter. If a player gets that 5th WR spot, great. Hope you enjoy how he looks in shorts watching games, he's not suiting up.

Understandable, but injuries happen and some bad luck can cripple your team if you are not prepared.

Also players get tired and sometimes need a play or two off.

You might want to reread what I said. However, we do have three receivers with more potential than him, and very possibly have three receivers better than him right now, despite your love affair for him.

no love affair. Reality.

Not the delusions/wishful thinking you have.

RB:

Stewart

Whittaker

Artis-Payne

WR:

Benjamin

Funchess

Cotchery

Ginn

Brown, C.

Boykin

Tolbert & Bersin cut.

Hill remains on the PS. The Huddle bitches profusely whenever any WR makes a minor mistake & rages about how Hill is better & Rivera is stupid.

Some of you are delusional.

Whittaker is a journeyman RB who is a third string RB at best. Just because you like him does not make him the heir apparent to Stew. Cap was a highly productive back in the SEC who could quite possibly end up as the biggest steal of the draft.

But I guess that this is what this time of year brings out. Have your dreams now. When the competition begins, your alarm clocks will ring.

Being called delusional by the guy that promised Hakeem Nicks would be a Panther.

Now that's priceless.

If you are referring to me, then you find where I promised that Hakeem Nicks would be a Panther. I know that I never said any such thing. As a matter of fact, I distinctly said that Nicks got exactly what he deserved (being that he refused to take the bull by the horns for whatever reasons).

That's the beauty of the written word and the Internet: there is a written record that no one, except for a hack, can change (and even that is still a part of the overall record).

Crazy.  That doesn't even sound like me.  The ultimate decisions come from the professionals.  I just give opinions based upon observations of players and analysis of what Dave Gettleman, Ron Rivera and others say and do.  At the end of the day, we are all just speculating.
