yea I don't see Klein being cut. Mayo looked horrible in rookie camp. so bad that I'm tempted to skip the proverbial "wait till the pads are on" stage.

I see it working out thusly:

SLB: Thomas Davis, Jason Trusnik/Ben Jacobs

MLB: Luke Kuechly, AJ Klein

WLB: Shaq Thompson, Adarious Glanton

that is a stacked fugging corps man...

and lets not forget that Shaq will often double as the LB/safety hybrid for our joker/buffalo packages.

I also see Shaq dropping back in coverage while Kuechly rushes the passer. Kuechly did say somewhere that he wishes he could pass rush more often.

OMG our defense is gonna be a leviathan next season... o.O

McDermott likes to use that 4-2-5 defensive scheme so often there is not a lot of room for linebackers.it will be interesting to see which linebackers we actually keep from this years group.

JMO on who i think our backup linebackers will be in 2015

Klein looked damn good in that Green Bay game last year at MLB after Keuchly was ejected.so i believe he remains with the team as a backup MLB

Glanton was our most impressive strong side linebacker last season.yeah, his speed and hard hitting suggest he could play both OLB positions.however,if Shaq is injured then TD (hybrid backup /starter)will go back to the weakside.so Glanton stays on the strong side as a backup

Trusnick was a former team captain for the Miami Dolphins and is a special teams ace.so,i believe he's definitely a keeper because of his value not only on special teams but as a leader on that unit as well.

so that leaves me with two players on the bubble...Mayo and Jacobs.i am going with Mayo because he used live in a shed WTH

I'm in total agreeance here. These are all the reasons I saw the value of Shaq for our first pick. People are like "he'll only see 35% of the snaps....herp-derp," but not only is he gonna replace TD when his contract expires but he also frees up Luke as Shaq's best skill is at pass coverage and keeping the play in front of him.

And I specificallg remember Luke talking about how he wishes he could get closer to the LOS and get negative gain tackles and disrupt the passing game.

As far as Klein goes, it's more of a numbers game as far as I'm concerned...if we save change in a newbie at close to the talent, he's gone...otherwise, he'll continue to be a solid backup.

Well whoever we cut will most likely end up with the Niners. They know we are stacked at LB and the mass exodus they had this past off season. I wouldn't doubt they scoop up whoever it is we cut.

Make no mistake they will be watching like hawks .

    • Lil Stanky 100% in the dot tonight... And our 2nd line has been our best offensive line this season. Maybe our 2C really was on the roster this whole time...?
    • That’s a grade I kind of expected tbh. I’m not a huge fan of NS, but he’s not as bad as what the huddle says he is minus the horrible game he had vs the Rams. I’ve always thought he’s often used as a scapegoat. The improved pass rush should hide his deficiencies a little bit better if he’s the game one starter. FS might have to be a position we punt on this year unless Thieneman falls to us at 19. The reality is, you're going to have a few average players in certain spots for a team with as many holes we had before free agency started. You can’t sign everyone.
    • I am by no means trying to say he's a world beater. I'm saying it's trending in the right direction. Especially when measured against himself.i think the team feel the same way or else they wouldn't have picked up his option. Plus I think there is a new idea in the NFL about these young QBs. Teams give up to soon. Browns gave up to soon on baker same with the jets on Geno and darnold. Maybe they are who you thought they were in the draft process and they need more time to develop than you originally planned. Either way. I do think he is as capable as darnold is as far as you can win a championship with him. And something he does have that darnold doesn't is he is clutch.  If I need one more drive and 2 mins to go I'm betting on Bryce and I am far from a homer, just going off his game winning drives. He has that dog in him on the last drive.
