...can be found reading this Observer article about Frank Alexander

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/nfl/carolina-panthers/article22642725.html

Alexander said he also felt the support of Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman and coach Ron Rivera.

“They kept it real with me about the consequences if I make another mistake. But all in all, they were real supportive,” Alexander said. “It’s kind of like what Mr. Gettleman told me, ‘I’ve got a son your age. I know y’all can make some bonehead decisions.’

“Coach Rivera was the same way. ‘We’re going to stick behind you.’"

Alexander wants to reward the organization's faith by raising his performance on the field and making good decisions off it.

Lots more at the link about interaction with coaches, trainers, etc.

It's do or die for big Frank this year so he better keep off the herb and step up on the line.   Looks like he's successfully dealt with the weed use so now he has only to play some lights out football.   I'm pulling for him as we need him and Kony to be our future DE stars now the Greg poo the bed here and Big Money is becoming too expensive to keep mugh longer.

I understand that he has seen the light.  An active member of the Elevation Church, drug free for nearly a year.   I wonder if he is the reason we did not pursue a DE in the draft or free agency.

Technically, Alexander is in that third year--when Johnson and Hardy exploded onto the scene.  (Yes, I know he has 4 years under his belt).

I love his comment about not being nervous about the drug screenings if you don't smoke.

I also love Gettlemen's comment to him about being a bonehead.

I think we can all look back at stupid mistakes we made in our late teens early twenties. The important thing is learning from those mistakes and growing as an individual from the consequences.

I'm glad Frank found another coping mechanism for his stress. While I might not see much difference between the moderate use of alcohol and weed, he still has to realize that society at large does. As long as it is illegal it's just not worth it costing you a shot to make millions in the NFL. I hope Frank has come to this realization and can be a big contributor this season!

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
