Does Cam bring in 100 million?

The 'market dictates things like sport contracts', but the fact of the matter is very few athletes are actually worth the money they make. Take a player like the NBAs Joe Johnson. Signed a max contract back in 09 for 120 million because the 'market demanded it'. A casual NBA fan has no idea who he is or who he plays for. 2 years later he was traded and pawned off on another sucker. The Atlanta Hawks probably lost money during the whole ordeal. I say very few athletes are worth the money they make because how many can make that money back? Lebron makes 20 million a year but between Jerseys, tickets, merch and TV ratings the Cavs make back whatever they pay him. With no knowledge of how the Panthers do with Jersey sells, tickets or TV ratings, I'm guessing we're in a better position now than we were in 2010. Again I'm guessing but I'm sure JR will make that 100m back from Cam's contract, because Cam is such a marketable figure. Forget the stuff on the field. None of the "young QBs" have resurrected a franchise like Cam. So that's that

I'd say so and not only to the Panthers, but for the city as well.  Remember all those prime time games in 2010?  yeah, me neither.  The more success he has, the more Charlotte is exposed, and with that more money flows into town.  Everybody wins.

In 2014, Forbes magazine rated the Carolina Panthers as an organization valued at $1.25 billion (Billion!) and the team brought in $283 million in revenues for 2013. That year, salary cap for a team's players was $123 million.

Even figuring in team expenses beyond salary and a host of other expenses, the earning potential of even a mid-range team like ours is phenomenal. A celebrity player like Cam will bring in a host of money from not just diehard fans, but from those drawn to him. Each national commercial he does for any product, probably drags in a few jersey sales. And if he proves to be a big time winner, the number of bandwagon fans than climb aboard just shoots the earnings ever upwards.

And some of those bandwagon fans will stay on, building a team earning base that grows through feast and famine years alike. The Dallas Cowboys are the most valuable NFL team at over $3 billion and have become so following that formula.

    • Over previous years? Sure is 😆
    • An odd little vibe I've noticed here of late: some folks are "all or nothing" to an absolutely extreme level when it comes to Bryce. Here's a bit of truth telling though: There are, in fact, things Bryce does well. Likewise, there are areas in which he's improved over his time here. He has, on several occasions now, legitimately helped us win games. On the flipside, there have been failures in other areas as well as coaching that we're not in any way his fault.  And finally , it is also genuinely possible that the team may see him as the future, even if we don't. The craziest part, though? It's actually possible that they're right and we're wrong. All of this is true, and more, yet if you accept any of these premises people go from zero to apesh-t in under three seconds 😳 Anything less than total disavowal of Bryce and / or agreement that he's the worst QB of all time and suddenly you're a "stan". Oy 🙄 The reality though?  Bryce is indeed an NFL quarterback. Not a great one, probably backup level good, and I've seen way worse. Now, if you run that statement through your personal Google translator and it comes back with some version of "I want to throw 50 million a year at Bryce for the next 10 years", that's not really my issue it's yours  I don't wanna make him the franchise quarterback, but it's not my call. Win or lose, the team is going to do what they think is best. And as always, if it disagrees with what I think we should do, I'm gonna hope I'm the one who's wrong. Internet clout means nothing. Watching my favorite team win at my favorite sport meas fun 😁
